I didn't think the 003 were harder to root then any of the others unless it was bec of the updated hboot version, but I could be wrong. I don't think it would make sense to root now, but those issues you mentioned aren't because of rooting. Most likely they are from using the leaked gingerbread rom. I ran a stock rooted rom and had no issues.

Well... At least I understood that unrEVOked was not compatible and that I would have to root a totally different way. I did some research and like I said... I just couldn't find a real benefit short of tethering and moving apps to the SD card.
So I saved myself some headaches. But I'm looking forward to this gingerbread upgrade on Friday.
I got to upgrade to Froyo about a week after I got my phone.
So all in all.... I am good to go. Till my next upgrade Feb 2012 (GOLD member!!!)

I get you, I just rooted mine a couple of weeks ago, and am loving it!!
I am running WarmTwoPointTwo and not one problem.
It feels and looks stock with Sense, but fast as hell. Mind you, you get a few extras too, like Sprint HotSpot working for free!!
I have run Netlix with no problem. If anything, the screen looks better!!
Check it out. I used Unrevoked and it worked. My Evo was made Dec 2010

I have 0002, 0003 and 0004. All are rooted. All the same way. None took over 5 minutes to root.

Ok... So... Let's say I want to root and run stock ROM...
I would root first then run the upgrade on Friday? Or do the upgrade then root using unrevoked?
