Problem with apps "Z4 Root" and "Wireless Teather"

Hello Everybody,

I just downloaded Z4Root and used the temporary option. It appears as though everything went well.

The only thing I want to be able to do is use Wireless Teather.

After I had my temporary root, I opened "Wireless Tether" and tried to turn it on but I get an error that says "Unable to start tethering, is your device rooted."

When I installed "Wireless Teather" after I had my temporary root, I also received an error regarding my Kernal. Unfortunately, I don't have the exact phrase.

I really have no reason to root other than for the WiFi.

Can anybody help by telling me what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks,

KCHruby

did you install superuser apk?

I did not; although a app named "Superuser" did appear in my list of apps. The app opens but there's nothing in any of the Apps tab. Should there be? What? How do I get it there?

make sure you have the latest version of wireless tether...also don't move either app to the SD card. So get the latest version of wireless tether and reinstall everything and you should be ok.

Sometimes I have to keep to trying to temporary root until my phone resets by itself and run it again. After that wireless tether works. Kind of strange that resetting my phone on purpose doesn't help.

Hmmm, well this is starting to become frustrating now. LOL

I've got, what appears to be, the most current version of "Wireless Teather" I've got 2.07, which I got off the App Market. I looked on-line and that does seem to be the most current.

In order for "Z4 Root" to work you need to unmount your SD card, then start "Z4 Root". After you have started "Z4 Root" and "Wireless Tether" you can remount your SD card and all is good.

strange, i don't recall having to do that to get z4root and wireless tether to work, but i guess you should try it.

Re: Problem with apps "Z4 Root" and "Wireless Teather"

The "unmounting" may work when you're having issues. My brother moved some apps to the SD card and that's when his issues with Z4 and wireless tether started. He moved the apps back to the phone and all was well. I'm running without issues with v.2.0.5. My brother had the exact issue and when he changed the version of wireless tether he was sorted after that. Maybe downgrade to 2.0.5 or 2.0.6. Actually i remember his issues starting when he moved "random" apps to the SD card, when he moved them back he was ok. So try a different version of Wireless tether or try unmounting the SD, or if you moved any apps to the SD card, move them back. I know this seems like a lot of different things but he did all of the above and he got it working.

...and the winner is...skeleton rider. Unmounting and remounting worked like a charm. As a matter of fact, I'm posting this reply teathered to my EVO. I pushed "Thank" but wanted to thank you again and put it in writing that the unmounting and mounting works--at least it worked for me.

Thanks again,
