Please Help!
 

I am running Deck's Gingerbread ROM but I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the problem...

So, recently I was texting outside and it was after it had rained. I start my phone and suddenly it starts going crazy. Car mode kept being enabled and disabled multiple times until I turned it off. I rebooted and still the same thing. I thought it was because I upgrade deck's ROM to rc9 so I did a nandroid restore. Still, was doing the same thing. IT JUST WON'T LEAVE ME ALONE!!!

When I got home, I left it alone and it stopped. Now, when I plug in the charger it automatically activates car mode and I just disable it and it runs fine. However, now when it's off the charger it goes good for awhile but acts up randomly and car mode begins to tweak out on me again. I have been googling for a solution but none so far have helped.

Has this happened to anyone? Should I just put the stock ROM back on and take it in the sprint store? Any advice is welcome

wipe and flash a sense rom and see if it does it

Sounds like your micro usb port is going gad. Most problems with the car dock activating are due to a bad cable or a bad micro usb port. If its the later than your screwed, because Sprint considers that abuse and won't fix it under the repair policy. You must submit it to Assurion and pay the $100 deductible. I hope your paying for TEP. But before you panic, I would definitely flash back to a stable sense rom like Sprint Lovers and see if that fixes it. All of GB builds can get a little wonky after awhile.

Yeah, I read about the whole cable and usb port thing. I think it is that too...

HOWEVER! I figured a sense ROM would let me get around the problem. I flashed OMJ's rom and when I plug in the charger, navigator pops up.

The solution?? If you go to settings, you can take off automatic launch when you plug in the "car charger" (which is really just my wall charger). Therefore, when I plug in any charger, it does not run the app.

I think it is my usb port on the actual phone because I used 2 different chargers and the problem persisted.

So, the problem persists technically but I will not get a new evo until it is absolutely necessary. Thanks for the help guys! I am going to miss gingerbread :angry2:

might want to try the "format_all.zip" that Calkulin has floating around...then flash your Sense ROM.

also...how long as it been since the phone got wet? I advise keeping the phone turned off...and putting it in a zip lock baggie...with a bit of bread OR better yet a half cup of UNCOOKED rice. You MIGHT still have moisture inside your phone. The bread OR the rice will draw whatever left over moisture that might still be in the phone that you can't see. I think you might want to do that BEFORE you flash anymore ROMs. Worth a try to save you $50 to Asurion.

I think something just happened to my USB port being loose or something and just happened to be at that moment. It's been about 5 days now and if there was any water in it it should be gone because I didn't use it that whole night after that. Luckily, the htc sense car mode app has an option to not automatically enable when it is charging which stops the app from opening. I don't think water would really affect it a lot because other people with this problem had this happen to them without any water/moisture. Thanks though.

Go back to rc8 and see if the problem still persists. But it does sound like a port issue.

I actually did a nand restore back to rc8 before flashing omj's rom and right off the bat it started tweaking on me

If you reflash a different Rom and it still does it, go back to stock. If that doesn't work, replacement time.
