I think a lot of us are feeling like we are parked in the driveway after flying down the freeway for six months. I bought my EVO June 4th and it seemed that something new was happening every couple weeks. Upgrades were coming out, stock Roms were getting hacked, battery life was getting extended... everyday was Christmas Eve. But since 3.70, the dust has settled. I guess, until Gingerbread gets released, we will be wondering around flatland. |

Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
I do have to admit that the EVO has put me closer to one stop shopping. It is now my primary source to the Web. I hardly use my laptop anymore. My daughter says she never opens hers. I am a talk radio junkie and this is how I listen to the radio, even while driving. Since Talk is on AM, I don't have to worry about signal fade and interferrence at red-lights.
It has also become a source of movie entertainment. I Rip movies and keep them on my 32GB SDcard. Last night, while at a burger joint, three of us watched "Crazies" until the pitch-fork scene since we were eating. And I have hours of music on here also. As an old fart who can actually remember our black bakelite phone w/o a dial and whose first computer was an Apple II (64k of Ram) , it is just unbelievable the emount of power I carry on my hip. We make Captain Kirk looked antiquated. All I have to do is remind myself that and it will be a while before I get bored. Gots to get back to my Space Invaders game. Ciao |
Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
Ive been bored with mine since about December. I rarely ever keep phones long and ive been wanting something else for a while but Sprint hasnt put out anything I want. Even after the engadget leak of the Nexus S and the Evo 3D today im not really interested in either. I'm probably going to go ahead and get the Thunderbolt and then the Bionic. I've pretty much decided to leave Sprint especialy with all these data issues.

I'm personally waiting on a quad core by end of the year :P..so far my phone is doing everything I want it to do so I'm happy.. As for the Evo 3D, how do you know its not interesting? have you seen specs anywhere? |
Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
This may have already been posted, but for those you who have grown tired of your Evo...try flashing MIUI. It changes the whole interface...and I almost hate to admit it but it's very iPhone-ish.
MIUI |
Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
If this is true, I would pick this over my EVO any day. I would also ebay my EVO for it.
Sprint's Nexus website is 'coming soon' -- Engadget I would use my upgrade for a pure Google OS phone, without sense or touchwiz. That would rock IMHO. |
Wirelessly posted (WP7 Beta Tester: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows Phone OS 7.0; Trident/3.1; IEMobile/7.0; HTC; HD7))
I would also. I just want to see a samsuck phone get an update without issue (every wp7 phone is pushed because of this) :(. |
Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
Or you can get the EVO 4G 3D

lol..sorry..sorry..had to say that AT LEAST once >.>.. Though when is sprint going to announce specs for the Evo 3d?..it better not be only a 3d screen..the specs need to be at least better then the atrix... also the url.. http://now.sprint.com/evo3d/ is redirecting back to the homepage...but if i say put evo4d at end it goes to page cant be found..:/ |
If its 3D I doubt its running Qualcomm because as far as we know, nothing adreno is capable of that. Could it ne the dual core 1.5 ghz beast we have been waiting for?
Only tegra and vr blah blah right now can do it. However HTC and Qualcomm have a love affair. I'll be happy with atrix specs and an amoled screen. And a nicer cam. With ARM9 power management. Cooler than your EVO |
Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
they say the race horse is bred out. If you put their speeds on a graph, the slope was steep from 1900 until sometime in the 70's and then flattened out to the point where it is nearly flatline. We have made the best horse we can make.
The same goes for technology. There is a ramp of newness and then it plateaus but eventually it goes flatline and then the technology becomes very cheap. The modem went from coupler to 1200 to 9600 and eventually to 56K where it sits today. Broadband access was still 5 years away. Laptops, once dual core have changed little over the last 5 years. The price has nose-dived. Smartpphones may be nearing that stage of evolution where all the BIG enhancements are there and now it is a matter of refinement. Better camera, more rugged, a few more bells & whistles but we may be looking at the best phone to come for some time. |

They may end up using a custom component for the 3d displaying oreo... But considering Atrix is already out and end of the year will have Quad core tegra phones...it has to be at least something competitive for the time :/ Quote:
800mhz on processor Adreno 205 aka a 2nd gen processor is what I would put as a decent experience on Android for WVGA resolution. Now if resolution goes up to 720p for example..it would definitely require more processing..not to mention multiple cores are definitely needed to make multitasking smoother..or aka background processors..Then there is the new GPU tech that allows you to run Adobe Flash and other stuff 100% on the GPU and hardware acceleration. Of course we expect Android to improve and take a bigger step..similar to how Windows 7 is much more hardware intensive then say XP... Aka Hardware has definitely not reached its limit just yet..but we are getting there.. |

But look at the growth of ppcs vs. Netbooks and tablets. Ppcs are growing at a faster rate. I would hope the new EVO will at the very least be competitive. Competition is really getting fierce nowadays. HTC was q groundbreaker with the EVO and nexus, but a year later the same devices are flagships. Wtf. You can't mearly exceed the competition now, you have to destroy it. Cmon htc, year ago who was Motorola and Samsung? Cooler than your EVO |

The Thunderbolt has LTE, the Atrix has HSPA which on AT&T sucks terribly. Enough said. And all of those cores dont really mean much until they come out with a version of Android that can actually utilize em. |
Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
Sounds lke you never rooted your evo!!!:)

Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?

Either way I dont like ATT either but Atrix is some nice hardware for this time frame... And honeycomb can use those cores when ported..either way even single core it will run circles around the Thunderbolt.. |
Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?

All that other mess I couldnt care less about. The Atrix could have a 6 core processor with a 5 inch screen and just because it's on AT&T I still wouldnt buy it so I dont even consider their phones. |

The new snapdragon is still based off of the old snapdragon but made with 45nm, not 65nm like the EVO. Additionally, gfx got bumped up from the shitty adreno 200 to adreno 205 which is leaps and bounds better but a little behind as far as the competition. Even the "new" dual core snapdragons (announced last year) are based on this older framework. Another thing besides having a better screen and better camera, it can also connect to international only CDMA networks. So no, there is a HUGE difference. |
Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
I still love my Evo. However, I am ready for something new. Maybe this new Evo I heard talks about. The Evo 3D?
|
Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
Hell no, I love this thing!!! seems everyday I learn it does something new I didn't know. Next it will drive me to work, lol

Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
Nope not tried of my Evo (King nuts) phone! All the other new phones that are coming out, i.e. LG and Motorola beside the dual core processor and one of the LG phone having Dual 5 mp camera (which is neat) that I'd like to see in action, there's is nothing out there that can fully utilize what's under the hood of those devices (Dual Core). Granted they have a little more Horsepower under the hood so when an update like Gingerbread 3.5 come out it's strong enough to support it...Now you revealed to HTC what your capable of and now create the EVO Matrix (Neo Edition) with four 10 mp camera and 3x core processor and the phone bends in 3D right before your eyes! My point is that, while there are new phone (stronger) coming out, there are currently no software out that the Evo can't handle! HTC is smart to wait in my opinion!

Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
There are software that the EVO cant handle very well...not because of the processor but because of the GPU :/
|
Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
I'm bored with the Evo but there is nothing else out there that catches my eye.
|
Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
i loved mine for the week it worked, until it just stopped working. hopefully i can get a new one tomorrow and this one lasts longer.

Re: Any1 else tired of their HTC EVO?
I still love mine, wish it had more gfx power but oh well. Its in no means obsolete
