Uninstall HTC Sync
 

Hi all,

Working on rooting my HTC Evo
I installed HTC Sync
I thought I read somewhere that I need to unistall before proceeding with root - is that correct?

I tried uninstalling, but when I connected cable I received an a exclamation or other character in device manager "device not working properly"

I tried updating the driver, but that did not work

What OS are you running on your desktop? What root method are you using?

Hi,

Os is Win 7 Home Premium
Root is unrEVOked 3.21 - unless better option?

if i remember right on the unrevoked website it told you how to do everything and even had links for the things that you would need, is what is on that site not working for you? i also recommend watching some youtube videos, i did a lot of reading and watching videos before i rooted and it helped, just a suggestion.

Uninstall HTC Synch but leave the Driver Installer in place. Then go to the link that Unrevoked provides. It is in the directory that is installed when you install UnRevoked. It will walk you through installing the Android driver.

If you're a little braver you can try this. This is the method I used to root and it worked quite well for me and these instructions have been updated.
