Nice ROM by NonSense over on Xda

I've tried a bunch of ROM's Myn, Calkulins, Sprint Lovers, CM7, CM7ex

They each had pluses and minuses.

But then I tried this recent one from NonSense.

It has a bunch of nice GingerBread apps but is still based on the stable Sprint Kernel so 4G, GPS, EPST all still work fine. A Hybrid between Froyo and Gingerbread.

Check it out. Sorry he does not post on PPCGeeks.

Yes, if you'll notice he built his ROM on top of NonSense's ROM.

Nothing but I like going to the genius that came up with it.

He also doesn't list very well what he did beyond the base and makes it look like he did the whole thing.

It's looks like a minor tweak as far as I can tell.

Oh boy, I am not sure how to reply to this response but I don't see how rainfreak, in anyway, made it seem like he did the whole thing. So again, wtf are you talking about?

There is dozens of Sense based ROMs with no ASOP stuff.

To start off, a quick correction. The ROM is called NonSense and it is cooked up by tjohnsonjr. It is not "done by NonSense" as your thread title states.

For the record, I contacted tjohnsonjr and asked him if I could use his base when I first decided to take my custom version of his ROM and release it publicly. I also thanked tjohnsonjr for the use of his base in the opening sentence of my ROM thread, so I am not sure how you can say that I make it look like I did the "whole thing."

Currently there are several tweaks that I have done and am working on documenting them in depth for the next release. I also removed a couple things that he did because I didn't personally like them (again, I am working on an in depth list). Then I updated several of the apps like Facebook, Estrongs File Explorer, etc. to the latest versions, and listed the version numbers in my thread.

Right now I am working on a custom taskbar for the ROM, as well as a totally new and custom theme for the entire ROM. I decided to use his base because I think it is the cleanest rip of Sense from any other ROM out there and it just runs fast and stable. I really just wanted to make it more mine, with my own flavor. Of course that has made me want to take it further.

FWIW, this is my first public release of a custom ROM, for any platform, even though I have been making custom ROMs (with the help of a kitchen) for a few years now (for both WinMo and Android). So I guess that I am not quite as detailed as you would like in my ROM thread, but trust me when I say that I am working on it.

I can cook up a Sense free ROM without all the ASOP elements in it if you would like. PM me if you are interested.

Which ROM, there have been two under discussion.

I assume you did all the Normal Wiping.

Also both may require latest Radio.

Whoops, sorry. I did the Rainfreak one. Yeah, I did the radios and the cache wiping and all that.

I'm going to try the one in the original post next.

I tried this Rom at your recommendation and I have to tell you that you were right. It is a great Rom!

Ok but a lot of cleanup needed. Who needs 3 launchers, not to mention I use adw ex but no way to remove the other adw free version :(

I used to use this ROM until he broke swype with the 4.1 release and it was pretty good. I am currently using Vaelpak 3.0 by vaelek and find it more to my liking.

Thanks for the heads up. I was looking at Vaelek ROM too as it looks very similar. On the NonSense 4.3 one Swype does work. His updates are not as frequent as some other chefs. I'm not sure that's a good thing or a bad thing ;)

I also flashed this ROM based on the recommendation in this thread and really like. I used it for the first time with my parrot bluetooth device yesterday and, while it connects ok, it always disconnects after a few minutes. I was also unable to stream music using the bluetooth connection. I did not have either of these problems on my rooted EVO with the stock ROM. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have a solution? I've found similar complaints from people using Android 2.2, with no solutions. Thanks.

I had a few issues with BT on tjohnsonjr's ROM, though I switched out the BT APK to a different one when I made my ROM off his base and had no problems after that. Maybe you should try the Vaelpak ROM, that one has working BT, out of the box.

The Bluetooth.Apk in NonSense, Vaelpak and Rainfreak ROM's are identical.

And for me they all behaved the same way.

You need new hardware, just kidding, it's just buggy code.
