EVO Rooted! Now what?

Thanks to the clear instructions, I was able to root the Evo. Are there now things that I should be aware of, like programs or apps not working correctly because of work in progress? I have not flashed to any rom yet because I didn't have any issues with stock, well only the bloatware that came with the phone. There are a few things that interested me to rooting;
1) possibly a kernel to improve battery power;
2) faster 3g.

Also, Which roms do you recommend? Thanks.

Well for faster 3g, go get msl reader from the market and get your msl. Write it down and save it somewhere safe, your eyes only kinda thing. Then follow these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922978
People are having success with this :). But FIRST thing you should do is make a NAND backup. Have you done that??

Well I think I did. After using the unrevoked method, it took me into clockmod recovery mode. I saw an option to backup the phone and I did that. Is that what a nand backup is?

lilbrulesall 01-24-2011 04:22 PM

Yep that's it :) now if you ever do anything to break your phone you can always flash your backup to get back to how your phone sits right now. No follow those instructions to speed up your 3g and if you don't like it, flash your backup :).

As for Roms, I'm on the evo zone blue right now: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/cdma-htc-e...-red-pure.html

But honestly, its all personal preference. I suggest you get titanium backup, make a backup of all your apps. And flash a couple ROMs and find the one you like best. They all come with different battery tweaks, kernels, bonuses etc.. and its just user preference. I say go to the HTC evo cdma upgrades section and try some of the Roms or look and see what each one has to offer. I flash a lot now lol cause I like checking them out. And always thank, and press the thanks button, the person who's Rom you use lol its just nice to do. Any other things I can help with??

Didn't need to root for 3G boost.

Sbc kernel? Where can I find it? Do you use it? How much did the battery improve for you?
