2 hrs 47 min delay in getting SMS

I told my daughter to text me when a package came. I called home and asked it came and she said, "I sent you a text!". That was at 3:36 PM.

At 4:30 PM I get off work and make the 45 Minute drive. Just a couple of minutes ago, I heard the Notification sound. I look and there was one unread text. It was from my daughter and it was time stamped 3:36 PM. I look at the time on my phone and it is 6:14 PM!!

This is unsatisfactory. We rely on various forms of communications to relay imporetant imformation. That is what I pay for.

It could be a coverage issue...

Nope! I have strong 3/4G at both locations and 4 to 5 bars.
Message packets are sent Store and Forward and are queued up. A few second delay is acceptable but this is rediculas.

Umm... so is this a recurring thing? You got all pissy moody cause of 1 text? Go change your pads.

Are you serious? What the hell kind of reponse is that? Anyway, sprint has provided more than excellent service for me over the years but recently their network has been very inconsistent. Sure maybe it was just 1 text but you don't know how important that item could have been. I am in meetings a lot and sometimes making or receiving a phone call just aint gonna happen so getting that 1 important text message can really make a difference between night and day.

Haven't you had all kinds of problems with Sprint recently? It's got to be a network issue, or they're just screwing with you!!!

I'm noticing text message delays too. Not just on the ones I receive, but the ones I send as well. I think Sprint have screwed up something with this 3.70 update and new radios. I wouldn't be surprised if we see another update coming this month.

BTW: Still not as bad as my 9hr text message delays I was getting for months on my TouchPro

Of course, with all your knowledge and experience, you would know.

Pretty sure it is Sprint and not the phone. May be due to the added influx of users over the holidays. Lot of us have been kicked into other timezones.

SMS is sent UDP (connectionless) on a Store and Forward network and the packets are queued for delivery but this was one of the worse for me. Others my have seens worse.

But over the years, most of us send a message and assume it made it to ist destination. Often we depend on it like, "be sure to pick me up at 5". Today my daughter send me a text and when I did not answer right away, she replied, "did you get my last text."

I guess that is how we will function until we regain more confidence in the system.

Hell, maybe we will go back to voice calls!! What a concept. Talking to a person over the phone.

As I type this, my time zone is set to Kenya!

So weird that the network is screwing up the locations like that. Mine is, of course, set to automatically get the date and time form the network.

I have noticed it seems to do this when I turn 4G on and off.

Whatever the cause, I hope Sprint gets it fixed ASAP. I depend on my phone alarm.
