Help with Evo Rooting
 
i attempted to root my evo following some instructions and now it at ver 2.1 and unrooted. Ive followed numerious instructions on rooting and even unrevoked. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

so what method did you use to get to 2.1?
at hoboot does it say say s-off at the top?

if your at 2.1 and not rooted try this one its really easy

i used a method that had me download a oc36img.zip file and i had to type some commands in cmd window. The s at the top of hboot is on

so try one of these let me know if you need help both have instructional videos i think
if your at 2.1 and not rooted try this one its really easy

everything went ok, i still dont have a superuser icon but i do have some other apps i havent seen before. When i flash the recovery it boots up to a red ! with a triangle.

Sounds like recovery didnt flash right just reload it
heres how



Install

  • You NEED to have root and NAND NEEDS to be unlocked before you can install this recovery! Follow this post to ROOT and unlock NAND.
  • There are several ways to install a custom recovery, choose the one that suits you most (fastboot or terminal/adb).

via fastboot
Code:
Copy recovery-RA-evo-v1.8.0.img to a location where fastboot can find it.
Boot your phone into fastboot mode
fastboot devices(press enter) (to make sure that fastboot "sees" your phone)
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-evo-v1.8.0.img(press enter)
via terminal app or adb => Make sure your rom contains flash_image!!
Code:
Copy recovery-RA-evo-v1.8.0.img to the root of your sdcard
start the terminal app or launch adb
su(press enter)
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-evo-v1.8.0.img(press enter)
reboot recovery(press enter)
How to boot in Recovery Mode
  1. Boot the phone while holding down the VOLUMEDOWN-key.
  2. Navigate to RECOVERY with the the VOLUMEDOWN-key.
  3. Press the POWER-key to select.

Download

ALWAYS check the md5sum to make sure the file isn't corrupted.
