Bluetooth SMS

I have a Kenwood DNX9960 with bluetooth. It has a SMS feature thru bluetooth. The SMS feature works with the Droid X, but not the EVO. Does anyone know what bluetooth profile the Droid X has that makes this work? Is it possible to make the EVO work with the SMS feature thru bluetooth?

I might be wrong but "message access" is listed as a profile for the Droid X but not the Evo so that could be the difference. I don't know if its possible to get the Evo to support that profile.
