New to Android..

Just recently purchased an Android (Evo of course).. Cant wait to get home and open it up and play with it.. I don't see a forum for users just starting off with it like I did the TP2.. So what are somethings I should know about getting the best performance out of it.. Best Apps, How to get better battery life.. Fun ways to customize it without having to completely "root" it as ya'll say or void my warranty..

I like the TP2 cause I could customize it and Hello kitty/pink it out through and through.. Is there a way I can do so with this.. Or atleast change the clock and menu...

while if you want to theme it you need to root

this link has hello kitty
as for the best apps that depends what kinda apps you want
games, utilizes, etc etc

as for changing the clock there is alot of clock widgets in the market
i dont know which one is the best so download one and give it a try see if you like it

as for the battery life the new ota is said to give better battery life
there are apps in the market that can help with battery life like juice defender and screebl

The first thing I would do is root it if for no other reason than to use the wireless tether without having to dish out $30 a month for it.

Ugh.. If I have to root it then I will.. Cause that free hot spot feature sounds awesome from when Im away from home.. I think ima wait on the rooting it until I get use to it for a week or two.. But what are your suggestions on that.. Who has the best one?

But Im just an everyday user.. I really dont see my self using it for gaming that much except what I can get in the android market.. I just want personal opinions on every day apps people use like Facebook, Twitter.. Games you can waste time on.. Whether I should use the stock youtube player versus an youtube app.. Nothing special..

So what Im wanting is the best performance out of it and if rooting it gives me that along with customization Ill do that.. Sluggishness is one of the reasons I hated the TP2, although it was a great phone for a year.. I still love it.. It was just really sluggish after cookie home tab and etc.. I love the big screen of the EVO.. Co-worker has one and played around on it.. Its seems pretty responsive and fast..

I'm using Fresh Evo and a like it because it is much like the stock ROM but there are several out there. Some people will root then try different ROMs. It's all a matter of preference.
