im a little baffled. my evo is able to activate the hot-spot feature and get me on the interweb but i never signed up for the hot-spot feature.i m funning OMJ Froyo

You are getting charged. Using the app is considered consent to add the fee onto your bill.

the app blocks your from useing untill you contact sprint and sign up for it, you can't just say hey let me open the app, wont work. i just did a little experiment, read my new post

I'm not sure where you are going with this thread and another thread made by you.
There are free alternatives proven to work free for rooted users.

If this worked for unrooted users, you deserve all the props but just being a dare devil to Sprint extra monthly fee doesnt make sense to me.

I read somewhere that wifi hotspot when connected to 4g doesn't charge you, but 3g does. I'm likely wrong, and don't have the original posts to back this up.

the only one i seen make this work is CalKulin in his Evio ROM (and he has a flashable zip to make it work on ther ROMs..try at your own risk)...i have been using it for a while now and it works excellent (expect it wont work with 4G for some reason, it just refuses to use 4G, even when enabled and coverage is available)...

If the ROM you are on has the abilty to tether by just clicking the USB tether mode, then you already have what is in Calks zip included into the ROM you are running. Like OMJ's ROM has this thanks to Calk.
