Need tethering help...
 

I tethered for the first time this weekend and I love it :headbang: but I was wondering how can I set up a secure wireless network when I do it. Currently I am on the Android Tether and it's unsecured. I tried to set it up on my own, but I wasn't successful, as always any help would be appreciated :) I am requesting step-by-step instructions if at all possible...

What tethering app you using?

Wireless tether is the easiest to setup

open the wireless tether app
now press MENU>settings> check "enable encryption" (to turn it on)

now change your passphrase to whatever code you want (and ssid name if you wish)

Ok...this is where I get confused. I did the same exact steps listed above yesterday and tried to connect to one the secure networks, and I got an error message saying that it wasn't able to connect...

Are you using the Pre9 version? Try that one. It works perfectly on my Evo. I have it setup with WEP encryption and I have no issues.

The pre9 did not work on my Evo. However pre7 works perfectly.

I am also using pre 9 with security enabled. I have noted it does not like alpha characters, so I am using a bunch of numbers.
