Browser thoughts
 

With the dawn of the "faster in every way" froyo, the browser seemed to get an overhaul. I used to use opera but now I feel with the intergrated flash the stock browser does very well. Anyone come across any issues with the stock browser?

Well I can say from the day I got the EVO I quit using opera mini all together. I thought the stock browser worked great on 2.1 but on 2 separate froyo roms I've loaded since the update scrolling is horrible. It's like ur dragging the page

Dude anything is better than Opera Mini....that Browser is half ass done...no back button...loads slowly...and shows the block pattern....the Android Browser is by far better....even if it scrolling is horrible.

I feel that opera is the fastest but its a pain to stream things. Dolphin is the same and skyfire isnt great either

Yep thats how i feel as well, and streaming isnt too great either, i have to fight with it to get it to go into full screen mode...i only managed to achieve that once btw. Skyfire was my favorite browser an it worked great ..wen it worked. now wen i try to stream a vid all i get is "Media Error 1:1" or sumthin ...im currently looking for an alternative

I hate that it automatically opens the last page you had open and doesn't automatically go to your home page, even if your internet is killed by ATK.

It's a home page for a reason.

Me too! It always opened my home page properly prior to installing froyo but now it opens the last page used. Anyway to change it to open the home page like it should?

Don't think so...I've seen it casually mentioned in threads on other sites but doesn't seem to bother people like it bothers me.

Might have to try Opera Mini and/or Dolphin to see how those work.

i use Dolphin Browser HD... works perfect on 2.2!!!

Which is the fastest of the 3? I've used em all, stock is so smooth!

I've been on Dolphin ever since i got my EVO, I've never had any issues. It seem to be slower rendering pages with Froyo 2.2 than it was with 2.1 Is the stock browser alot better with 2.2?

Hulu works on stock!

The consensus (and I agree) is that 2.2 browser is considerably faster. Add in Flash 10.1 and it looks real good.

The home page thing I mentioned above is an annoyance for sure, but not sure if other browser options are better yet (and if those browsers are also FroYo-ized).

I just hate the laggy-ness with scrolling. I thought there was something wrong with Fresh's newest ROM, but I see its a Froyo thing.

Dolphin HD doesn't run flash automatically anymore you have to press the grey button with the green arrow for it to play flash content, smh. I'm pretty sure they are working on it.

Go to Settings -> System settings -> Enable plug-ins ->Always on. That will make them load automatically, they're set to on demand by default.

I used Dolphin HD exclusively on Eclair. When I upgraded, I couldnt get flash to work. So I hard reset and decided to get the stock browser a try.

I don't like it at all. The performance is poor, with lots of input lag and jerky scrolling. Didn't have that problem with 2.1. I saw on AC forums that a lot of people were complaining about the browser performance with Froyo. Many also reported that changing Enable plugins to "on demand" seemed to help, but I refuse to do that.

I even tried Dolphin again in 2.2, and it suffers from the same performance issues as well.

Overall, not very happy with browser performance on 2.2

Try Sprint lover's froyo rom. It's A LOT better. When I was on other froyo rom, I couldn't stand the laggyness you are having.

i never liked opera, n skyfire is nice but seems to mess up a lot
only problem i see with the stock browers is that now it always wants to open up the last page opened. should be an option to toggle that on and off

Skyfire is the best for 2.2 imo..... way faster page loads, and better scroll.

I agree but wen u try to watch a flash vid u get a "media 1:1 error" ..well as of recently i have at least

that's strange, i haven't had that problem, but when using dolphin, or stock browser it would take forever to load a vid, and every page would load slow with, or without flash...

Stock browser on 2.2 is great i dont use opera mini anymore i used it with wm because i hated how slow opera mobile was.

Stock browser has been mostly good for me. It takes a while to load a video and sometimes my internet connection stalls out though. But it's been overall good.

Id kill to have the 2.1 browser in 2.2, as the scrolling is pretty bad in comparison, like you said.

Well that always on setting is what making scrolling sluggish while loading so ever since i set it to on demand it feels the same as 2.1 with fast scrolling.

Running dolphin HD .. using 2.2 fresh with netarchy .8b ... flash 10.1 installed - i have no issues scrolling - no lag with plug in ALWAYS ON .

just tried a pronz site and flash video right from the site plays!
