Which tethering app? (yes i am rooted) and yes, i don't really want to install any special app on the pc...

Wireless tether works well, but that is why i was asking... I am looking for a reliable (wired is great as i might as well keep charging EVO while using) that keeps a good speed and of course free is prefered.

When I am in 4G what i have works very well, but that is only about 25% of the time....

Wireless hotspots ALWAYS have speedloss. I have a 32 Mb connection via my comcast cable modem when connecting right to the modem. When I connect through a 108 Mbit router, i get about 12 Mbit. This has been the case with every wireless router / access point that I have tried. So... it would make sense that the same would hold true with wired (tether) vs. hotspot. It becomes a question of whether you need multi connections or not.
