So I'm assuming you have not done the OTA 1.47.651.1.
If not, follow the link in my siggy to root your phone. Don't just do one part though. Do the full-root process. That way you can make a backup and restore if needed later on. It's very simple, just follow section 1&2.
Also, rooting your phone and not installing a rooted rom will cause problems.
At minimum, flash the rooted version of the Sprint rom. Unfortunately, they don't have a version of the latest Sprint OTA rom rooted.

As far as getting the 1.47.651.1 benefits, you should install a custom rom that has that. The custom roms work fine. They're not all tweaked out and customized like they use to be in Windows Mobile.

OMJ's rom has the latest radios and everything is working fine.
The tutorial in my sig also shows you how to flash a custom rom.

custom roms are ok, but they are updated like weekly to fix issues. ion wanna do that. i hated that about winmo. Most roms add features, i know, but then they eff up sumthing its supposed to do. then i gotta wait on a update that will say download my voice-mails properly.

but the stock rom runs fine. aside from the bloatware, it pretty dayum stable. best OS ive ever used.

actually i did do the ota that came out on the 6/28 -6/29 and lost the unrevoke root app ability so i just want the default rom with the latest update fixes with root enough to run wifi tether

quick question. the rom id like to use after i get all the steps done...(im going to try this again in a bit)...should I keep it in the .zip file it came in? or put into a special folder on my sd? or all the files in root of sd?

True, but try fresh 0.3. No bugs all I need now is a overclocking non-30FPS limited optimized kernel to flash and I will be on my way.

I didn't do the ota but props to these guys for getting this done for everyone else.......seeing everyone suffer was really sad......well not that drastic but you get my point
