Average Battery Time
 

Hi everyone. Although I don’t have an EVO, it would’ve been my second choice if I didn’t get the iphone 4. I am hearing conflicting battery time with the EVO, so what are you guys getting? I think that was one of the reasons why I didn’t get the EVO because every HTC phone I’ve had (4 total) had crappy battery life.

When I had my Touch Pro 1, I had to charge it up every 4-6 hours, the Touch Pro 2 usually lasted 8-10 hours with moderate use.

The iphone 4 doing a heavy torture test I get about 12-13 hours (3G, Pandora, GPS, 60% backlight, internet, etc). With normal everyday use its getting anywhere from 18-26+ hours. I’m not here for a p!ssing contest of who has the best phone, just like to know real results.

I also read you can underclock the EVO during sleep to get extreme battery life, what type of results do you get with that and does it affect the phone in any negative way?

besides reading what others have said, my first hand expirience with NAVI+Pandora+E-mail checking, about 10 minutes of phone conversations and screen is VERY bright (sunny day). jumping from roaming/to sprint towers I was able to get ~3:30 before i got 15% warning ( running factory rom and no ATK).
in comparassing; THE SAME route with TP i wuld be using Google maps, playing MP3 i would get even less life and result- i'll be swapping spare batteries since TP would get too hot and would not charge....
EVO plugged and charged for the rest of my 6-hour trip...
heavy use i can see ~ 4 hours ( got 2 wall chargers and 2 spare batteries and car chargers)... just plug it in!
tp sucked when the signal is weak and 1x... drains a fresh battery in 3 hours just sitting on my desk, will see how evo does tomorrow

Does the battery die out faster using 4G vs 3G or is it the same? Although the huge screen is nice, the battery drain is a serious trade-off.

With all of my settings:
CPU adjustments
auto-brightness
mobile always on- turned off
email synced manually,
GPS on

I get about 15-18 hours with the following usage:
6.5 hours of music
50+ text
30-45 min phone calls
1-1.5 hours of gaming (this seems to be the biggest drain for me)
1-1.5 hours web (browsing, forum posting, app store, email, maps, youtube)

wut rom are you on, are you rooted? wut are your settings??? cuz not sayin' you're lying, but this is very hard to believe

Fresh, rooted, forgot to mention background data off unless using market.

What is so hard to believe? Do you use your phone for mp3s? If so, you know that it consumes very little power.

My phone has been unplugged for 1 day and 9 hours. I'm now at 9%. I used my phone to surf the web frequently. I watch a 45 minute TV program with rockplayer. I took about 40 pictures and 4 movies at a 4th of July fair. I have no complaints. With my unlocked TP2 and Sprint Lover's ROM I would get about 1 1/2 days use out of it before having to charge. So this is on par, and my phone is not rooted or anything.

I never turn off background data... wut does that affect??? like would my twitter app not check for tweets? like wut type of apps would it change??? like i said i didn't think you were lying i just thought it was hard to believe cuz I'm pushin 12 with light-moderate use, heavy, and I'm probably dead or almost in like 7 or less

Ya, it would definitely affect apps like twitter,facebook,etc. and my battery life is pretty much on par if not identical to yours :-p I think we actually USE our phones.

HEAVY use i got 3hrs out of a fully charged battery.........
Moderate use...... i managed to get about 5hrs.........
