I didn't have to ask. It was already done by the time I got the bill. But that may have to be due to the fact that I had spoken to Sprint customer service before I got the EVO due to having a problem with my Palm Pre so they moved up my upgrade date and told me it would be free of charge.

I didn't get charged an upgrade fee, didn't even have to ask. But I don't think Sprint Premier customers get charged that anyway.

premier customers get the fee waived automatically.

Just call and ask them to do it, they usually do. If they resist, then make up a story like RS or BB already charged you and you see it on your receipt, they will remove it...they did for me.

My activation fee was waived. Twice as much as the upgrade. I told sprint I couldn't order online so I couldn't save on free activation and get my promo coupon. Existing customer so that may or may not have helped.

What's the upgrade fee? I was qualified for a new phone, so I paid $199 at Sam's club. They waived the $35.00 activation fee and gave me a $40.00 credit on my first bill, plus my corporate discount of 25%. It looks like my monthly bill including taxes and the Evo fee will be $71.00.
