Do I have an iPhone or Evo?

I feel like I did when I was waiting for Blackrain to make a untethered jailbreak for the iTouch 3rd generation. I always wondered why Apple was so restrictive with their software. I remember trying to flash back to 3.1.2 or below but the new update blocked access to that. It's like this process is repeating itself all over again with my Evo. Come one Sprint and HTC, no reason to be like Apple in this case.

there are too many people out there that should have access to the system and system files b/c they are dumbasses. so for that reason they lock it down like that. They dont want to have to keep swapping phones b/c people are messing with stuff they dont know about.

It's easy to root your phone still. Just flash your phone with the stock shipped rom and then you can root it no problem. It's one extra step but it's a easy fix.

You can't do this the bootloader has been updated and will tell you your update is older. It doesn't work.

Exactly, it's things like this that make me feel like I'm on an iPhone.
