OTA Update?

If you are to do the OTA update does it basically return your phone to original state. Like removing any SU permissions and flashing their stock rom and removing the custom rom you might be using. I've tried reflashing to the shipped .6 rom but it never actually loads the rom it just hangs there until I unplug then it seems like it was just about to flash it the stock rom. I was curious if doing the ota would work to take it back to stock?

Re: OTA Update?

Well its kinda complicated and different phones have different endings so:

First if your phone is a full root then it probably wont except the update.

If it does and it was rooted then SU commands and all that wont work.

If you want the OTA update you will have to unroot your phone and flash back to stock first. Or use one of the rooted updates.

OTA will ruin your phone. (IMO)

It will unroot. Currently there is no solution for that. There was nothing in this OTA that was so amazing as to be worth ruining/losing full-root.
OTA will also put all of Sprint's bloatware back on with no way to remove it.
You won't be able to use custom roms.
It will stop you from using anything that requires root access like Wifi tethering.
It's so full of bad, it's a joke.

If you're having issues, flash the original Shipped Sprint Rom from - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685835

Then do the full root process again. Part 1 & 2.
Then load a custom rom that has the OTA w/ the new radio.

Or, ignore everything I said, and regret it down the road. :-({|=
