Anyone else think WiFi hotspot should be free...

or at least cheaper?? I mean why shouldnt we be able to use the hell out of our phones 3g abilities. I am sure this has been said before and beaten to death, and I realize Sprint is a company, and they want to make money. But I am sure that the dedicated users who NEED a 3g card would keep it as they dont want to worry about battery life, and they wont lose the businessmen who use it because who wants to kill the battery of their phone, not to mention needing to use it on the road for hours at a time while not near an outlet. I think if anything we should get a free gig of tether a month or something to help push this phone, or to push Sprint into the lead! The power users would still need their 3g cards, and we would at least get to enjoy a little tethering... I dunno... I guess I just wanted to vent my opinion...

I just think a half gig or a gig of free hotspot each month would showcase the ability enough to enjoy the feature, and still not hurt the power users...

While I agree with you I also look at it from the business perspective. How could they sell 3g or 4g hotspots at $59.99 when for $20 more you get a phone and full phone service.

not really... i can see why they charge for it.

USB tether, on the other hand, SHOULD be free by default

not quite what i meant...

yes, it can be done with our a root, but you have install PDAnet on your phone and the PC it connects to.

what i think is lame is the fact that when you plug your phone in to a PC it asks if you wan to share internet but if you click that option your get a error code 67 unless you are paying the extra $30 a month.

i want to be able to plug in to any machine and tether with out extra software or paying that $30

so... i am in the process of rooting

i completely understand the logic behind the $30 fee. Your letting up to 8 people use your connection, which means potentially 8x the data transfer.

Yeah I thought HTC Sync Manager handled this with the Evo's built in software.
