Anyone know what size the wallpaper needs to be to fit on the Evo?

It doesn't matter at all, because when you pick the wallpaper, you have to crop it to fit. The wallpaper has to stretch to fit all seven screens, so the bigger, the better. I think as long as it is a landscape picture, but close to a square ratio of side lengths, it will be fine when you crop it.

It doesn't have to stretch if it's WVGA or higher.

And with Wallpaper Set n Save you do not need to crop.

there is an app in the marketplace called "wallpaper set and save" that will let you set an image as a wallpaper AND WILL NOT MAKE YOU CROP OR RESIZE so that you can keep the full resolution and integrity of the wallpaper behind the sense UI. a must have for an HTC android device when it comes to wallpapers

I get all my wallpapers from www.interfacelift.com
Awesome collection of wallpaper. When I select my size, I always select 1280x800 then I crop it when selecting it in Android... Easy and simple.

Just look for computer wallpapers and you can use almost any of them no matter what the size is, and they'll look great. I don't think you really need a program unless you like making things more complicated.
