I try it every now and then but I often have to make corrections.

The swype beta does not have the mic icon on it for voice text. I hope the final version will atleast have that option. I like swype, but when your driving down the road it is nice to use the voice text option..

im not a swype fan myself i think it sucks and just slows me down..coming from a hardware keyboard phone i actually think the EVO is pretty good but I always replace the HTC keyboard with a AOSP one depending on the ROM.

Now I can tell you that with the froyo aosp keyboard you can turn off the cuss word filter which is nice..

Yeah it works pretty well, but honestly, using swype lets you send a message with 160 characters in 20-30 seconds

only thing I don't like about swype Is it says it can store password information

I use the speech to text feature all the time. Its pretty acurate and also incorporates some slang like "gonna," "imma," "wussup," etc.

Well, since you're are talking about texting you are just in luck my friend! Everyone who has an EVO (and an ear) please use the voicemail app! This app lets you send a voicemail to any phone that can receive voicemail.......its really close to push-to-talk!

Just hit the "all apps" button and navigate to the icon that says "voicemail" all the way at the bottom! Once in there hit "menu" then hit "compose!" Select a number from your contacts or manually put it in.......then you can record a 2 minutes voice message and send it to whoever yo choose to!

The receiver will get a text that has a number and once hey click on the number they can hear the message....and reply back without even calling they're voicemail!

EVERYONE SHOULD TRY IT OUT.........ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE EVOS!

thats what TikL is for... it actually is a push to talk... free in the marketplace, and much more efficient. ;)

You mentioned PTT...Have you seen the thread I have over in the Software/Mod forum? There is PTT available on Sprint Android. Amazing stuff. Works perfectly!!

It's weird that you say that, you are probably the second person I've heard (and I have a thread withh 200+ swype-related posts) who doesn't like swype. Once you spend a couple of days using it, I would vouch that it is physically impossible for it to slow you down, because down to it's core it's more efficient... To every geek his own, I guess.

Well considering swype was created by the co-founder of the T9 text input mode, and because it is now making deals with major laptop and tablet producers to put it stock on new devices, I highly doubt that they plan on hacking your personal data.. But hey, it does say that... IF you are on the old one. The new version in the link in my sig doesn't. :angel4:

Re: Voice Texting works on this phone?

It is a generic/general warning, since you have to consider it has to capture your typing/swypes to figure out what you're trying to type...
