Re: [Tutorial] How to check your 003 screen type...
Okay..the absolute simplest way to tell is to watch the screen behavior when it reduces its backlight when left idle. If it snaps to a dimmer level, you have an epson screen. If it gradually dims to the new level, you have the novatec.

Re: [Tutorial] How to check your 003 screen type...
There's talk that the Nova screens have a slightly pinkish hue to them, though I've not noticed any pink whatsoever on my Nova... That aside, I'm not sure what else is different.

This was by far the easiest and works on any phone, doesn't need to be rooted, no data cable, htcsync or pc/mac needed. -CC |
Re: [Tutorial] How to check your 003 screen type...
Just downloaded the terminal emulator app and did the method described... It does work, but it took me about ten minutes to actually find the entry without being able to search. I'll see about adding it to the tutorial tonight.

Cool, got an epson here. I had a feeling that my current evo looked a little bit different than my original one.

Did it in terminal on the phone as well. No need to install anything
Go to Terminal Type in 'su', hit Enter (not sure if it's required, but I did it) type in 'dmesg > /sdcard/info.txt' and hit Enter Connect phone to USB cable, open info.txt in notepad, and search for epson or nova. Got Epson! Edit: Beaten. Should've read the thread first. |

Do I need to root my phone to do this?
