HDMI out - how the hell does this work
 

ok, what am i missing here. i come from the touch pro and touch pro2 where you'd plug in the tv out cable and notification of it being plugged in would automatically come up. today i get my hdmi cable for my evo plug it in and hook it up to the tv and i got nothing. no picture on the tv, nothing. try youtube, try the gallery and nothing. i try this on 3 hdtv's with hdmi and get the same on all 3. one time briefly i saw the HDMI icon come up in the notifications area then it soon went away.

what is the normal notification when you plug in the hdmi on the evo?

You need to plug in the phone into the tv, set the tv to the proper input, reboot the phone. When the phone boots you should see it say something about HDMI cable. Then play youtube video. Unfortunately my jack on my phone is not very good so I have to wiggle the cable a little.

I do not need to reboot my phone. I just plug in the cable to the phone and TV, the HDMI icon shows up in the task bar and I'm good to go. Well except for the disapointing fact that very few things (playing video, playing Youtube & slideshows) actually show up on the TV and the fact that there is no aspect ratio adjustment (videos under 720p, including ALL Youtube videos show up in the middle of the screen at 480p.)

did you get your cable from ebay seller 'wireless4cheap' or something like that?

I only had to reboot the first time I used the cable after that it seemed to load up on it own.

which cable is it? I noticed a few different ones. mini, micro, and I think I saw different types of micro like a,b,c,ect.

you got sold junk like 80 out of 100 other ppl have. most report the cable doesnt work and a FEW have said it does. i'm trying to get my money back through ebay

They HDMI cable I bought was from Sprint.com for $29.99 It worked pretty good. Even HQ youtube videos, photo slide show and so forth.
