Having trouble with FIRST STEP of root. :(
 
Ok so now that the full root is out for the Evo I decided to try and root, but I can't even get past the first major step (Toast method). I put PC36IMG.zip on my card, went into HBOOT, it reads the .zip file and has the progress bar on the top right, but after that, it doesn't ask if I want to do anything. It just goes to the regular menu options of FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, CLEAR STORAGE, SIMLOCK, AND HBOOT USB.

WTF am I doing wrong?

maybe the file is corrupt? you should delete and replace the file. and try again

Well I'd try adb pushing the PC36IMG.zip to the card instead of just dropping it in the root of the sdcard with windows. If that doesn't work, redownload the PC36IMG.zip

adb push c:\where_ever_your_stuff_is\PC36IMG.zip /sdcard/PC36IMG.zip

Yeah pushing it would probably help too. Also why are you going to HBOOT? when i rooted, it searched and loaded up the file as soon as it got to the bootloader.

Lol nah I know you're just trying to help.

Redownloading and then I'll do a CRC on it against the other file.

Looks like the two files I downloaded are different. THe first one is a hair smaller too. That was probably it. I will try now and let you guys know. Gave you both thanks.
