After reading these posts, my original observations still stand. Trying all ways, wet fingers, dry fingers, slowly, more pressure, edges, middle finger, toes, nothing.

Its what we call in electrical engineering a floating ground. when you touch the device with one hand, it has a reference point of what to compare the capacitance value that the other hand asserts. Not all devices need this. Its a matter of design in the hardware and software probably.

Does it mean there are a batch of EVOs out that exhibit this fluke/bug whatever you call it? judging from my own experience and subsequent posts.

If it only affects initial adopters ie Google I/O then maybe its been corrected.
I'd still like to use it one handed in the car mount or lying in bed or on a table where i rather not hold with the other hand.

Mine works 100% perfectly. Sounds like user error.

Mine seems to have the issue only when it's on the bed or on something nonconductive. Although it only seems to affect the upper third of the screen for some reason.

I just tried it with my brothers EVO and his seems to work fine but mines doesn't. I would lay both of them on the bed and tried to slide down the notification bar and his does but mines doesn't. Wonder what it can be?!?!

Instead of picking it up, just touch the edge with a second finger with the hand your gonna use. Easy

its funny to think this is a legitimate issue for some. and trying to flush it out like how droid incredible users faced.

user error is for those that cant read a thread and haven't put the time in to diagnose and explain it right. great you don't have an issue. got nothing to contribute?

of course that is easy. is it convenient? Am I a instant apple or nokia fan boi if i say it doesn't happen with those devices? as soon as someone finds a fault on these devices, everyone goes on lockdown defensive mode, "mine is perfect, you're an idiot for not knowing how to use your device" seriously?

again, great if it you got a device that works flawlessly. I'm trying to figure out how many out there have the same issue as originally described and videos like the one for the droid incredible's screen.

Could be a grounding issue but there's nothing conductive on the outside of the phone other than the screen as far as I know. If it was a ground reference issue, how would touching a non-conductive surface with your other hand solve the problem?

Also, it seems like some phones definitely have a problem and others don't. To those that that have the problem, can you check what hardware version your phones are? Mine is version 0003 without a problem. My Google I/O Evo was version 0002. Maybe there was a bug in the earlier version after all.

I don't have the issue with version 0002.

Mine is also a Google I/O Evo version 0002. For those that are familiar with oscilloscopes, its similar in respect that a floating ground skews all output parameters. Values will jump. You can witness this occurring using the 3 apps I mentioned in the first post. I suspect this is what is happening with some of the EVOs touchscreens. also hero, droid incredible. Is it a batch issue? calibration issue? who knows at this point. I've only seen it reported on HTC devices. not moto or the other brands. correct me if i'm wrong.

Also if someone has a good camera to record this and showcase it running it through a gamut of scenarios. I would use my evo to record, but thats the device in question. ;p
