Re: video test

My mistake was using a MinoHD flip cam 3 weeks ago, I'm sorry but every EVO 720p video I've seen looks like crap now. I wasn't expecting similar quality, it is a phone after all, but these EVO videos look mediocre at best (and sound even worse..).

I'm eagerly awaiting 720p samples from the new iPhone to see how they compare. I'm not a fanboy, and would prefer to stay with Sprint, but I'm on the fence here, and 720p as well as video conferencing quality are going to the be the deciding factors. Not many reviews of the Qik conferencing yet (other than what a disaster the launch was..).

720p is 720p on their servers though, it doesn't down grade them. You just have to make sure you view the video in the highest quality.
it looks just the same when I took it straight off the sdcard and copied it over to the computer.
I guess it's not that bad, the picture is huge and like some of the other people have said: it's a cell phone.... lol
definitely better than the VHS days!!

Re: video test

for a phone it's really good, but i wouldn't go around telling people it's 720p u know what i mean? it just doesn't match up to anything you'd shoot with even cheaper hd cams... but like i said, this is a phone and phones are notorious for having crappy cameras. Hopefully the iPhone 4s camera is ridiculously good, so htc steps it up with future devices.

Re: video test

Sprint and htc have both said there are problems with video in low light and quick movements of the camera.

Re: video test

looks good to me.
lets not forget that with a software/firmware upgrade or hack we'll get better quality sooner or later.. so its not the end for evo hd

for a phone its fantastic, but i have a feeling the iphone 4 will have a better quality camera/lens/hd recording.

Re: video test

I think part of the problem is the compression HTC uses on the camera.

Yeah or straight up h264 .mp4 files. Might as well not use .mov since .mp4 is playable on more players.
