Evo reboots on "acquiring location"

Hey guys, I looked around but didnt see this posted anywhere so I figured I'd ask. It seems whenever I click the default favorite for google on my evo, it brings up google, then says "acquiring location" and the phone will reboot. If i turn off the location feature, this problem goes away and the browser opens fine with no reboots.

Has anyone else experienced this problem before? I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed somewhere else.

Sounds like your GPS is having issues. Try to restore factory settings on it, if it does not work then you probably have a defective unit.

I'm also having this same problem. Every time my phone attempts to use GPS it reboots...I basically can't launch google maps and that's a big negative. I've tried looking in other android forums but I can't find anything. Can anyone confirm that resetting to factory settings works?

Had the same exact problem. I verified that all of my info was backed up and then I did a hard reset. I read that task killers cause this problem with random resets and apps having to force close. Once I performed a hard reset and let Android manage my apps, I didn't have the problem anymore.

Follow these steps

After the hard reset is done you wont have any more problems using gps anymore.

Yeah, the clear storage helped, thanks! That sort of sucks though, I was using ATK to save battery life...oh well.
