ok..(whew!) and im rooted :) teathering works. at least i can see it under available networks...havent really tried to connect but i dont see a reason why it wouldnt work. you guys rule!

I've been reading that the unrEVOked method uninstalls after a reboot. Did it get fixed or is this still the case?

I used the unrevoked root and this link for wifi tether and it works great. Can't wait to try it with 4g. :toothy7:

According to the original thread on xda-developers, the latest .apk available on their site is a "sticky" root..

wont work if you have updated the software which most had done at the sprint store. since you have to have a rooted phone and the update breaks root. so you can have a faulty sd card or root your choice

so you should change your thread title to rooted phones only as it is misleading and incorrect

The unrevoked method of rooting the app works even after the OTA update.

It sticks fine on my evo 4g. Or, at the very least the superuser permissions that you set it to remember are still there. I haven't actually tried anything new that require su permissions after rebooting the phone, but it has no trouble with wifi tether after reboots.
