Sprint evo bricked....need fix... HELP/SOS
 
ok basically my phone wont get passed the htc evo 4g start up screen. my computer wont sync with it for me to do the recovery with the stock rom

i have put the phone in recovery and tried to run the stock exe but it dosn't connect with the phone.

please help

I extremely LOATHE when people say bricked....the reason is because if your phone turns on its not bricked...you can tell because when it IS all its good to be used for is a paperweight.

when the phone is powered off i just hold the power button and the volume down. then i select recovery mode from the list.

the phone cannot load all the way to the main screen where i can acutually use the phone

I didn't have to do anything special to load the rom except follow the root instructions and make sure oj's rom was on my memory card. But if you mess anything up and want to go back to stock, boot your phone into fastboot (power off phone, hold volume UP, power on), connect to computer, then run the file located in this thread, and you will be completely back to stock rom no root.

this is exactly what i have been trying to do. but everytime i try to run the ruu i get the message "the rom update utility could not connect to your phone"

ii have it connected and in recovery mode. it just dont want to connect.
i have the adb drivers and running windows 7.

Why are you in rcovery when it specifically says fastboot, and then proceeds how to enter fastboot?

dammit.....thats it......i have waisted hours because of one simple thing......thanks for pointing out the obvious. its actually appreciated this time.

now i guess i have to keep trying til it works. because its detecting the phone but it never completes. i keep getting error 132

did you try doing a clear storage with the vol dn and power, I got stuck in a constant loop of the 4g splash screen cuz I forgot to wipe data before I flashed, and that worked, also I found that you don't need to be connect to htc sync before flashing, just for the future, hope that helps hun!!!

it tells me please get correct rom update utility and try again. but its the same rom everyone is directing me to

Someone posted on here the ship rom which should have the correct ROM utility included...look for it in "this" forum...download it and run it.

yeah I just had the issue I had to flash via sd card, use the new shipped rom with the update, do you have debugging already on, cuz if so you can get the android sdk folder and use the command prompt and recover using the sd card.

Just pull the Battery and then replace it, Boot to Recovery.
