just turn it back to portrait and hit send if you don't want to minimize the keyboard.

LOL I was thinking the same thing... but to answer the question I think its a keyboard issue not a sms messenger issue.

Its not an issue, thats just how it is. Personally I don't have a problem with it at all.

Re: Evo sms bug

I dont mind it either, just something to get used to. Maybe issue was the wrong word to use. Just a quirk of android.

it bothered me on the hero as well, you'd think it would bother enough people they'd change it.

Re: Evo sms bug

Im fine without it, i dont need an extra key on my keyboard for a send key, i like the spacing as is now, itd be too cramped

Not only did it not bug me but I cared so little ,because its a split seconds worth of worth of effort to minimize it, that I've never thought twice about it.

Heck I'm posting from the phone now and it doesnt bug me.

Re: Evo sms bug

For me in google voice the enter key will send the message, but not in the regular messaging app. However, I have tried 3 other keyboards, and they all have the send button in landscape.

Re: Evo sms bug

I've gotten so fast at hitting the hide keyboard button on the bottom left of the keyboard and following up with Send that it doesn't even bother me.

Wow. 2 buttons. At least I don't have to wait 2 minutes for my Messaging app to respond like on my TP2. rofl

Re: Evo sms bug

Ok, while I agree with the others that this isn't a bug, there is a solution. Use Handcent and set the shortcut for send to the enter key. You can type you message and hit enter on the keyboard and voila, it sends! I hope that helps.

Ticklemepinks 06-06-2010 07:08 AM

Re: Evo sms bug

with handcent sms you can press the return button to send in landscape or portrait

newone757 06-07-2010 03:29 AM

Re: Evo sms bug

use the HTC-IME modded keyboard. You can even go into keyboard settings and have it set for the enter key to serve as "send", or have it not do fullscreen edit mode in landscape (like my screenshot)

make your own skin here (make a login on his site, use hi res link, and v26 keyboard, enjoy), you can even make a pink one or one with a custom logo for your space bar lol

Re: Evo sms bug

I think the only SMS "bug" ive gotten with the evo is the notorious HTC issue with the timestamps. I have also learned that its not just sprint phones that has the problem is also happening with some verizon and att phones. Im hoping someone comes out with a fix for it soon as i dont like getting a txt at 10pm and it saying it came at 3am. If you know of anything please let me know because I havent seen anything.
