Returning my EVO..bad LCD.

I am a little irritated at this. Screen is seriously looking like crap, its all dark and brown spots on the bottom. Didn't even notice until i had a white-ish background. Thought it was the ZAGG protector so i peeled it off and its defiantly the LCD. Radio Shack said bring it back and they will have on over-nighted to me...well i'll get it Tuesday. Bogus.

Well, it happens. No company in the world has a 100% success rate with perfect products, especially in technology. Defects do happen. At least you're getting it replaced quickly. Kind of a bummer that it happened over a weekend though.

That does suck. Hopefully it doesn't become a common problem for people.

Shoulda gone to a Sprint store. They probably wouldve replaced it on the spot for you if they had any in stock

Re: Returning my EVO..bad LCD.

Zagg = water solution...thing it may have gotten under the screen and distorted it? Did you install it or did someone like Zagg or Best Buy do it for you? If so, they were at fault if that was the case. You probably either got a bad one, or the water solution did something to the screen.. I don't use any protectors that req water to put them on....Sprint has 3 pack of screen protectors just for the Evo that is $12.99...Get those..

Re: Returning my EVO..bad LCD.

Well just got back from returning it. They were pretty decent about it. When I called he said the Radio Shack warehouse had 543 EVO's... I went there within 45 minutes and it was down to 198. So I'm lucky I went right away. New on ewill be here Tuesday by FedEx..

I highly doubt it was from my ZAGG protector, I really didn't put much of the spray on there. I'm pretty good at putting those on, I've done a ton. I thought the same thing at first, but I did notice that the edge of the screen was "bleeding" before I even put a protector on.

Nobodys fault, just a bad screen. ish happens..but over the weekend!! ahh! back to the ghetto lg rumor 2.

Look like water damage, the home and menu buttons light are blow. I won't put a full body protector until I know the EVO's are fully stocked. It's good they are replacing it. Hopefully Sprint systems don't crash again, lol.

Similar thing happened to me. I let mine dry for about 3 hours before putting the battery back in and as soon as I noticed the damage I took it out and let it sit overnight. Some of it cleared up but for the most part it's still there. I should be getting a replacement sometime next week.

I've been told by my sprint store that it will take at least a month to get a replacement. How are you getting a replacement so fast? Not using a sprint store?

that's not a burn-in... it's the transparency of the menu. What you're seeing is what's behind the menu.

Wow, I would be ever so slightly irratated too but as long as its getting made right in a timely matter you cant be too upset, as you clearly stated that youre not and you know these things happen lol. I feel super lucky that i got my evo day after launch (yes i found 4 at one store lol) and so far not one single issue. and have fun with the rumor 2 lol i had the rumor and i wasnt a fan haha

I've only had HTC phones, and I've never had an issue with the screens. I did have a mogul that took a crap on me, but it was a refurb, so who knows what kind of life that thing had before me. My Treo 700wx was a work horse, mogul was just "eh". The hero was bad @$$, and the evo, well that's [Emeril]BAM!!! ANOTHER NOTCH!!![/Emeril]

And to the OP, I wouldn't worry about a screen protector. The glass screen is very difficult to scratch. I would have a case around the phone, in case you drop it. If the screens were plastic, like the pre, and other resistive phones, you'd need it. Hell, I see beat to hell iPhones on ebay, and they have flawless screens.

Edit: and +1 on seeing the rest of that girl on your home screen... :D

Re: Returning my EVO..bad LCD.

To the OP,

I had this EXACT same thing happen to me when I installed a ZAGG screen protector on my HTC Touch Pro. I thought I had screwed it up but I remember reading in another forum that you can pull the battery and put the phone in a bag of regular white rice.

I left the phone in there for 2 days and the rice removed any excess moisture. Screen has been PERFECT ever since.

Just thought I would share.
