EDIT:Like Fast said, once rooted the ROM Manager program is really easy, DL it from the Market if you dont have it already. It allows you to boot into Recovery without a PC.

@ Fast-excellent advice, man that OMJ has a way with words LOL
yes? did someone call DL?

True but it seems that too many users assume root is the final step when its really just the first.

Once rooted, I understand this voids the warranty. Is it only a matter of executing the firmware stock update from HTC to put the phone back under warranty?

not entirely certain how accurate that is really. this issue came up with the tp2 and apparently, even though the rumor had always been it would void the warranty once the phone was unlocked, in all actuality, it didn't at all. it's easy enough for a sprint tech to put the stock rom back on to check for problems.

that's my 2 cents. any thoughts?

Thanks. I'm just always trying to cover my bases when to dealing with corporate responses. I can imagine the typical responses all of the victims of the screen separation issue had to endure when they tried to explain their problem to a Sprint rep or better yet a Radio Shack employee.

IMO it may depend on the issue and the tech you bring it to.
Service for a hardware issue is different than for a software one, imo.
I joked about this in an earlier post but if you bring it in for a cracked screen, whether or not its rooted *should not* make a difference. If you run into the Last Boy Scout of techs can they make an issue out of it? Dunno but I'd rather not deal with the fight.
If possible I'm always going to flash back to stock before bringing it in.
Thanks to this kick ass community it's not bloody likely that I'm going to be bringing it for a software issue.

agreed. I've still always flashed back to stock and relocked. and i will still do that with the evo. i still think it's the safest way to go.

Quick update -
Thanks to orangekid & winmonewbie for pointing out that Full Root is now available for the EVO. You guys literally sent me the pm's 3 mins apart.
I had plans for tonight, but now I'm sitting at my desk getting ready to make a new video.
