Hi,

I have my EVO on version 2.2 (non-rooted). I found the following:
My firmware ver is 2.2
Baseband is 2.15.00.07.28
Kernel ver is 2.6.32.15-g746f4f0 htc-kernel@and18-2#58
Build # is 3.26.651.6 CL218634
Software # is 3.26.651.6

Can I still root my phone using the tutorials?? Which parts should I follow??

Thanks.

I'm trying to root mo stock 1.47 EVO

I'm stuck on step 5N. Get the "cannot create directory ..." error.
I tried following the instructions for manually creating a "BEC..." directory by opening all sorts of flash sites, but it's not happening. The websites just load.
The only thing I see inside /app-cache/com.android.browser is webviewCache
So I can't run the cat /system/bin/rsync /system/bin/rsync /system/bin/rsync > foo command.

Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

Start that step over and try the fix again if you need to. If you cant apply the fix then I would suggest you try Simple Root 1.47
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...postcount=2637

Since you started the process I'm not sure if you'll encounter errors with Simple root. If you do then try to flash a 1.47 RUU to "start over"

Yes. You need to get the 1.47 OTA files installed correctly. Check Post #1 of OMJ's thread and flash v1.7 ROM1
That will update you to the latest OTA and from there you'll be able to flash a Froyo ROM. I'd suggest one of his.

So you haven't rooted yet? How in the world did you JUST get an Evo and it's missing TWO updates? You are one lucky SOB :)
Just follow the steps in Post #2, starting with Step 1.

Good news=you have Froyo

Bad news=you cant root......yet.

No way to know when a root process for Froyo will be out. Enjoy your device while you wait.

How to manually do a full wipe dalvik cache

Hello all,
This might be obvious to some, but I have searched and searched for the method people use to do a full wipe without using clockworks automatic wipe method.

Do you use a file browser and delete the folders manually?

Is it an option in the boot loader?

Thanks
Force

Re: How to manually do a full wipe dalvik cache

In Recovery, under Wipe there is an option to Wipe Dalvik.

Re: How to Manually Completely Wipe - Not Using Rom Manager

I have an Evo, sorry updated it now.

So do people manually delete these folders with a file manager or is it an option in the boot loader?

This seems like it would be covered somewhere but I cant find it anywhere.

I have always used Rom manager but I have heard it doesnt fully wipe.

Thx
Force

Yes. Post #2
**********ROOTING Part I and Part II (Full Root)**********

I suggest you read the instructions at least once and then watch the videos.
Also verify your downloads are complete by comparing file sizes to the pic FastRX8 included in Post #2. A LOT of users ran into issues when they only got partial files and tried to root anyway.
Enjoy.

This seems like a repost
Did you not see Carla's response two posts above your last one?
Bootloader/Recovery/Wipe
It's suggested to Factory Reset and wipe dalvik cache before installing a new ROM.
You dont HAVE to but if things dont go right you'll have to anyway.

EDIT:Which folders are you talking about? The rooting folders/files? You can delete them with any file manager or by hooking you device up to your PC and accessing the SD card.
