Re: battery = horrible less than 4 hours standby

I'm trying to figure something out.... I just posted a seperate topic about this but since people are already on this thread it might be interesting.. if you are getting terrible battery life, check your battery stats and tell me if there is a difference between your "up time" and your "awake time".. mine are the same number, which means my phone never sleeps and thus, I have shit battery life... brown hornet has great battery life and his up time is 18 hours and his awake time is 4 hours... this is obviously the cause of my bad battery life... would love someone else to confirm this so we can get to figuring out what is causing the nocturnal phones.

Re: battery = horrible less than 4 hours standby

There should always be a difference in your up time and awake time.

if they are the same, then your phone is using resources while the screen is off. Check the apps.

I have the hero and this helped me alot. Settings > Wireless & Network >mobile networks in there uncheck "enable always-on mobile data"
It sounds like everything stops working, but i have not noticed any lag in data or emails since i changed that setting. But i get a few more hours of battery life.
Sprint and HTC tend to hush things, our Heros had major battery issues when they were first launched to. I should break down and pay the extra 35 a month to be on VZ but i am to cheap, good luck.

This is a good settings change. What this does is turn off your data after 5 minutes of inactivity and turns it back on when coming out of standby. Should improve your battery life very well.

Re: battery = horrible less than 4 hours standby

I read some reviews of horribly abysmal battery life for the EVO. I wake up at 4am and use my EVO to surf the net, check facebook, read the news and send texts regularly. I can go until 10pm when I go to bed and still have around 25% battery life left. 18 hours of battery life of regular usage for me. The only setting I change is I turn off bluetooth when I am not using it, other than that I have not changed any setting or tweaked anything to get more from the battery.

Re: battery = horrible less than 4 hours standby

I haven't taken any exact measurements of my battery life just yet, but I can last most of my night (I work 3rd shift)... I take it off the charger about 4pm and with moderate usage it lasts until I go to bed around 6am. This is w/ 4G, BT, Wifi all Off and GPS on. When I first got the phone, I was only getting 4-5 hours and in the battery usage it was showing Android System at around 60%... I turned off the Live Wallpaper and that seemed to correct that. Something interesting, at my work, I have 1 bar of 4G coverage. I accidentally left it on for a 2 hour stretch at one point, wasn't actively using it but did have FriendStream updates and sync settings to every 1 hour, and it barely touched my battery in that 2 hour stretch... oh, and that's with the "always on data" setting left on.

I honestly don't think there's going to be one set solution for everyone. It will depend heavily on your coverage area, and individual usage patterns just like w/ any other phone...
