I went to download a feww apps tonight...one I wanted was- Astrid Task...and it says that the app has access to "full internet access- Personal Info-can read/write calendar events-read phone calls"....Whats up with this??...it this a dangerous as it sounds? or just because it does what it does, Google has this discriptive?:angry7:

the read/write calendar events is because i think astrid has the ability to put task deadlines on your calendar for you. now the read phone calls isn't exactly what it sounds. google is just thorough enough to put that tag in there because the program may act a certain way if you on a call such as diminished alarm volume or no alarm at all. most programs will access the "phone calls" because they'll just do something different when the phone is in use
when i had the hero i used astrid a lot and never had any problems with it

It's more just a general warning in case any of that happens, people can't say that they didn't know the app was going to access their data usage, personal info, or anything like that. Some people just download apps willy nilly without knowing or paying attention to what they do, and then get upset later when they find out the app has run up their data bill (assuming they don't have an unlimited data plan, but that wouldn't apply to Sprint users). It's nothing to worry about IMO, just a general precaution that google takes so people don't whine later on.

Ok...thats good, it looks like a neat app. I was reading about some of the bankings apps out there, and how they "do more" than just help YOU keep track of your financies...as in...get your data! Not good...either way, thanks!

yeah there's limits on what i would or wouldn't use. anything that comes from a source i don't recognize and wants a login, i wouldn't use

examples,
i've heard bloo is the better app for facebook and i hadn't heard of any problems, but i still used the official facebook app just in case
wouldn't use the netflix app because i didn't know the developer, although now that i'm on windows mobile i use the microsoft netflix app
and i wouldn't use any banking app that wasn't supported by my banking institutions, just in case

They're just disclaimers heeding warning of what the app has access to.
