4G who has it?
 

Well as most of us all I got my EVO today. Just got home and was playing with it. Well all of a sudden a message popped up and now I have 4g. I live in south St.Louis area. Any one out there have it but not supposed yet? :headbang:

i believe st louis was on the list of next areas to get it during the summer, so it looks like it's up now for you guys.

Kansas City supposedly got 4G a couple days ago. Anybody comment on whereabouts they get signal? Especially around Johnson County. Thanks

I live in NoCo Saint Louis (Brentwood, Overland, Clayton, etc.) and I still run on 3G. How down south are you?

+1 i live i noco as well.. ferguson, florrisant, hazelwood, and so forth. not having 4g is one of the primary things stopping me from jumping on this phone... along with the "premium data charge"

not to get off topic but im one of those "its a matter of principle" people when it comes to the data charge. i do get a 20% discount from working for Enterprise Rent a Car so it wouldnt bother me either way aside from being required to change from my SERO but i digress.... if 4G is available in St. Louis thats one hell of an incentive to get this phone but i think im gonna wait to heat any user feed back. has anyone heard any updates on a "coming soon" list of cities? one that might include dates?

On the boarders on St.louis Hills and Holly Hills. Figure the where Highway 55 and Loughborough are. There is the new Schnucks and Lowes there

I'm in DC and while it is listed as "coming soon" it is indeed live now; I get a great 4G signal at home.

I have never seen 3G so fast as on my EVO. I previously had a TouchPro (original) and while it wasn't slow, browsing on 3G with the EVO is very fast. I'll probably only turn on 4G when I want to download a large file or for media intensive activities. I honestly consider 4G a bonus with the EVO and would have bought it even if I were never going to use 4G.

This phone is AWESOME, hands-down the best phone I've had!:headbang:

Here in atlanta as well which has decent 4g coverage. I actually haven't even been using 4g at all, the evo really makes the best use of 3g. I can browse full web pages with ease, it almost feels like my desktop, no BSing. I can watch youtube HQ with relative ease. This phone is rediculously fast and even though I don't like the additional 10(in my case 20 since I have 2 evos) I can understand where they are coming from. You will in fact be using alot more data, either 3g or 4g, this phone is amazing. The 4g I can see being used for high data extensive stuff, like downloading really huge files or hotspotting or browsing while on the phone but other than that my 4g will remain off.

I have 4G coverage but does not receive any signal at all. I'm from Charlotte, NC

I have 4g if I go out to my street, but not in my house (I have been using wifi instead). I must be in one of those spots that just slightly out of the closest repeater's range.

not to get off topic but ive noticed some people mention turning 4g off and on. i thought is was like the evdo meaning as long as you were in range you got it automatically. so in other words turning it off and on is kind of like pushing the boost button?

No.. if you're in range of 4g and you have it on youll get it automatically. If you leave range of 4g itll switch to 3g automatically but if you leave 4g on your radio will constantly search for a 4g signal... and kill the battery.

I don't think St Louis is official yet, but I did have some 4g coverage where I work in Sunset Hills area. But in Ballwin (West County) I don't have any.

The EVO is the bomb with or without 4G.

Yep, you're right. We are one of the test markets for 4g. Some days you may have it while others you may not. Certain cities will have it where others may not. :D I love STL!

I am north of the river just south of Smithville and I don't get 4G either. C was suppose to go live last Sunday. I work downtown so I will try it on Monday.

Home reception sucks here in Houston but its great when out and about. Thats where it matters and I just use wifi at the house. I read the 4g spectrum is high in bandwidth and therefore has a problem penetrating walls. Possibility

I live just south of Seattle...there's 4G where I live...pretty much of the I-5 coridor...I just don't have the phone yet....since my Premier upgrade isnt until August 1st..only a few months...and by then most if not all of the bugs will be ironed out with this phone.

In my house I don't get 4g but with 3g I'm getting pretty darn fast speeds. MUCH faster than my tp2.

In Nashville TN in and around. "Hermitage" we are I guess in testing as I'm getting 4g right now as well. I've been noticing random download speeds anywhere between 3-5 mbps down and 1-1.5 mbps up.

I caught 4G on I-95N south of Jacksonville for a few min. the other day, then today at lunch it picked back up at I-295 and Normandy on the westside of Jacksonville. I read that people were also getting 4G in Orange Park south Jacksonville.

In Rialto CA 4g now lives.... I thought Tmobile HSPA+ was going to make it here first but guess not!! I just notice the same thing, I lose 4g inside my home, but outside its great!
