Also, when trying to enter adb commands, I kept getting an error saying insufficient permissions for device. I google & found out I needed to start-server w/ root (pc) access.

I need to figure out how to make this permanent too.....oh, it's so fun learning linux...

TOO DAMN COMPLICATED! Excuse the language, I feel overwhelmed. I'm also gunna have to hold off on rooting until some good feedback pops up.

Re: How to Root Your Evo

rooting works but the adb command in windows 7 is adb-windows so anywhere it just syas adb put adb-windows from the directory where you extracted the second file from the xda root. the ota update DOES NOT break the root. And flips rom will do ota updates so updates sent will still work. Connectbot will let you see if you are rooted. get connectbot from the market install. open it up choose local conection. the type su at the $ prompt if the prompt changes to # when you type su you are root.

I am successfully rooted running omj's rom for a day and no problems with his rom. camera is crystal clear, no negative side effects what so ever.
