Man I hope we arent going to have this issue yet again...

Looks as if someone over on sprint users is reporting dust under the screen. I had this issue with the hero and it was ultra annoying.:cwm10:

it came with dust or he got dust under it? How do you get dust under the screen on a phone you've had for a week or less?

Clean your house people!!!! JK, first question was serious though.

I saw that over there. I'm going to hold out hope he's making it up since it was his first post. but i saw he posted the same thing over on a htc forum as his first post as well. regardless, dust under the screen would NOT be good on a phone this popular.

anyone else have this issue? ugh, now i'm thinking of my q9c days where dust would find its way under the screen.

the q9c got dust probably from keeping the phone in pockets and having silicone gel covers that attracted dust

Re: Man I hope we arent going to have this issue yet again...

I dont know exactly HOW it happens but it was a really widespread problem with the hero. I had 2 replaced as a result of it. When the screen is dark you could just see a ton of it sitting in there.

From what I know as an owner of these phones, they are not air tight. You open your battery cover and let the dust in, it will eventually get in there. As well as right through the spaces, especially if you frequent you phone in your lint filled pocket..

Something to consider as we handle our phones daily. Thanks for the heads up. Now I'll go out of my way to ensure no dust gets in there. Hopefully it's not too big a problem.

No biggie, I'm sure Sprint/HTC will replace it for free under the warranty.

i'll be irritated as hell if this happens. I was happy to ditch the hero because of this. Weird cuz it never happened on my tp or tp2...I can blame it on htc because those 2 didn't get anything under the screen....why my hero and better not be my new evo... grrr.. Quality Control.

These two didn't have capacitive screens.... If this is actually the case then it seems more of an issue with HTC capacitive technology and how well they seal the areas around their screens. I do know they leave room for ventilation, etc.

If dust gets in, it can come out too. Simply remove battery, make sure you are well grounded, and thoroughly blow it out with compressed air designed for electronics; available at Radio Shack or Wal-Mart.

Part of the periodic maintenance on my Hero.

So simple, a caveman could... :blah5:

Well, for those interested... Here's a 15 Step Teardown of the EVO... I think I'll stick to the compressed air as mentioned earlier...

Still, it's cool to see what's actually under the hood...

Wirelessly posted (Sprint TP2 6.5 stock: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380)

it amazes me how dust or w.e can make it under the screen even if a person never puts the phone in their pocket. arent these things constructed in controlled environments especially in relation to particulates ?

I hope this isn't an issue, but in the event it is, which is the better insurance (TEP) for it? BestBuy's or Sprints? Or it is simply covered by the manufacturers warranty?

i think this is common with capacitive displays, not just HTC phones. I remember people with iPhones complaining about it.

also remember the digitizer is glued in so there are chances that the glue is not completely filled in. I may be wrong but I know from the videos it shows to be glued.

My LG Musiq or whatever use to get dust under the screen and a few other phones I had. Its very dissapointing. Trading it was a temp fix. My nextel I880 had so much dust at one point it was hard to see the screen. Yes I put my phone in my pocket no I am not dirty and no I dont work in a dirty invornment.

I know exactly what he means. some phones create this dust like dots at the bottom of the screen (you can notice it when the screen is off)...sucks!

keep this in mind everyone....the guy that posted this over at SU has not posted since. it was his FIRST post and he never came back posting pictures as requested by others. i'm still a bit skeptical.
