palringo is available for android plus many other IM apps. I don't use core player, so i don't know what special functions you are looking for. there are numerous music players and video players for android though.

Palringo - yes

There are a quite a few media players... I saw a thread on XDA where someone had an app from china or japan that could play a number of video formats...I'm sure someone else has better info on those.

p-slim beat me! :) I'm slloooow.

So any pointers on "most codecs" player for Android? I loved CorePlayer's ability to play back a lot of formats, and don't want to convert videos to MP4s just so I can play it on Evo. Too IPhone-ish
