i saw a review today and even though i love the speed, features and screen size i cannot stand the body design. the power button looks like it will be an issue, the kickstand is useless to me and can probably break easy. im also not a fan of the button placement. the engadget review touched on my complaints as well. im not bashing or saying i may not buy one but does anybody else agree at all? what would you have changed about the design? i know the stock battery will be an issue and i would of liked to see a trackball or dpad. |

You'll get used to it. You don't change an Evo for you, you change for the Evo.

Re: evo design
The only thing I would change is the way this thread started out. I mean seriously, the phone is the highest spec phone on the market right now and you are gonna complain about a kickstand thats integrated into the back of the phone? The power button? I haven't held an evo yet but it looks like the power button is in the same general area as it is for the tp2 and if thats the case I don't see the big deal.

Re: evo design
if i were to nitpick and change some stuff on the evo, it would be as follows:
amoled display for better battery life 16 gb class 6 microsd a HW keyboard on par with the awesome that is TP2 froyo on release a better camera. lets face it, htc cameras have never been great, and while the evo's isnt bad i think it could be better. i could give 2 shits how many "megapixels" the camera has or that it does "HD quality". cmon people, these are buzzwords that sell. they dont actually mean good quality. 720p isnt really a high resolution either. id take a quality 3-5 megapixel camera over a random 100 megapixel camera for the sake of big numbers. dedicated camera button i dont think theres anything else id realistically add. maybe a automated cookie and coffee maker that can be triggered by the alarm. Also, a slide-out massager! |

Re: evo design
I wish the lens on the back was more flush and didn't stick out as much. If they can make the kick stand flush why not the lens int eh back

Re: evo design
From the several hours of research I have found:
AMOLED has slightly better contrast and intensity but suffers (2) drawbacks at this point in technology regarding mobile phones: 1. Useless in sunlight. TFT LCD's actually use a specific amount of light that reflects in the display; AMOLED's do not and wash out in sunlight. 2. AMOLED's have a lifespan 1/5 of TFT LCD. I will admit that the lifespan is more than a regular person will own the device (2-3 years). However usage and quality of screen can result in potential screen failures for more than LCD. AMOLED will certainly be the next generation of screen standard but I still hold it in a regard of early development as far as mobile devices are concern. |
