multitasking

I've read that you can surf and talk using 4G but will that apply to 3G as well?

Re: multitasking

No. Its a problem with CDMA networks. Only one can be used at the time.

What makes 3G different than 4G? They are both CDMA.

Not completely so...

The phone/network does/will have the capability of 4g data and 3g voice simultaneously. Just not sure if that doesn't work yet or when?

If someone else could chime in....

3G cannot handle voice and data simultaneously.

4G is faster than 3G. 4G will allow voice and data simultaneously because the voice part will use CDMA and the data part will use WiMAX.

The above is a severe cliff notes version lol

the way i see it is this is still cdma, so voice and data is technically not available still. but just like if you turn on your wifi you can talk and surf, 4g is just another frequency or radio band like wifi, so they are not interfering with each other.

3g can handle voice and data, just not on a cdma network. it has something to do with the radio

Yeah, but since he has Sprint, I figured to give him the Sprint 3G/CDMA version. Just to simplify it a bit for him.

Re: multitasking

3g is CDMA and 4g is Wimax. they are to different technologies. That is why if your in a Wimax area and are on the phone, you can also surf the web or do data related activities without the us of wifi.
