Best Buy EVO Allotments?

So I just ordered my EVO from BestBuy today, and apparently I'm the 7th person on the 2nd wave (supposed to be coming in on June 9th). But the sales associate did say something interesting, that during their 1st wave, only 89 people ordered, and that they may possibly get more phones in the shipments for the 1st wave, and that those next on the 2nd wave would have dibs on any additional phones.

So I'm curious how their shipments go, whether they are allotted a certain amount of phones in their first shipment, or whether they submit how many people signed up for the first wave, and HTC ships them that exact number? Because I'm hoping that they get around 100 for their first shipment, cause since I'm 7th in the second wave, and that means I should be getting the 96th phone. Wishful thinking, or does anyone have some inkling of how the best buy works their pre-order magic?

I have read that BB is getting anywhere from 30 to 90 devices depending on the location. If your store is located in a very busy street or mall, very likely there will be about 90 of them on hand ready for activation. Officially, BB has not released numbers.

I don't about RS... anyone?

You will more than likely have the phone if you just walk into any sprint, best buy or radio shack on launch day.

Oh yeah, I live in a VERY populous area. San Antonio, Texas! 6 out of the 9 Best Buys here had over 150+ pre-orders.

Kind of doubt that. Every sprint store here that I've talked to said they imagine it's going to be worse than when the Palm Pre released, and they had people camping outside. Forget that this is a 4G area, and alot of people know about it.

I just hope my BB gets extra devices on launch day and I can just go pick it up.

as far as actual shipments available to public its going to be a variable depending on location, however, any preorder will guarantee a phone will be sent to their store with the customer's name on it aside from the regular retail inventory

I have to disagree with you on that. I placed my preorder the day they started and i'm 3rd. When i spoke with the wireless Manager he told me that due to handset restrictions they may get as few as 5-10. The best buy stores won't even know til the day before how many they will be getting.

I had a similar question. Does anybody know how many total units Sprint had made?

That is very odd, especially when you consider that it defeats the point of preordering... maybe the manager didnt have the right info...

I went by bb earlier to ask about appointments and she told me she'll be making calls Thursday. She also said that she's had to start turning people away as of Saturday because she had so many pre-orders. Trust.. its definitely NOT going to be as easy as walking in a store and getting one of these on the 4th.

i can assure you that best buy will be getting all of the preorders. that is the reason they stopped the first wave and started a 2nd wave of preorders. we don't know how many extras we will get.
