HTC does not like to pay their patents, They owe lots of money right now in back patents, im guessing that is why they didnt include it

Well actually what the EVO decodes is decoded by the snapdragon via hardware decode, not software decode so the one paying for the licenses is most likely qualcomm.

There is no Core Player for Android yet..they are waiting on soem functionality..maybe the froyo will provide it..for now there is this:

There is an app in the market called divx player. I've d/l'ed it but haven't got around to trying it out yet.
