Question regarding audio out
I come from an ATT TP2 where there was no 3.5mm jack, the audio came out of the extusb port on the bottom via the HTC dongle with a 3.5mm on it.
My question is, since the Evo has a 3.5mm jack on top, can anyone with the Evo and the HTC dongle (maybe from a previous device) try to see if audio also comes out of the usb port? I currently have my TP2 set up in my car where its just the usb for power and audio out, and if the Evo can't do this i'll have to use two wires and reroute some things. |
Re: Question regarding audio out
Not possible. The Evo has a micro USB port, not Mini like the TP2.
I don't believe they have a Micro USB dongle, either. |
Re: Question regarding audio out
Cic is right, so you better gert started on adding another cable and rerouting...

Re: Question regarding audio out
I do not believe there will be any audio out of the USB port like previous HTC devices, which kind of stinks since I use that connection in my car for both power and audio. I'll either have to start doing 2 cables (yuck), rig up bluetooth audio in the car (haven't found a good cheap setup for my car yet), or pray they release a car dock with audio out. There's also the theoretical possibility of using the micro HDMI port to get audio out, but it would take a custom dongle to get both power and audio. Also don't know yet if just plugging in an HDMI cable reroutes audio automatically, and also if it would also reroute video. Problems, problems.

Re: Question regarding audio out
Ah thats right forgot about the micro usb. I also thought about the hdmi, but the problem is iirc the signal coming from the hdmi cable is digital, and as such there would need to be a converter of sorts to get it into the analog signal that goes in to most head units via component inputs.
Doh! time to rip apart the center stack again. Thanks for the quick replies guys. |
Re: Question regarding audio out
Bro just use 3.5 mm male to male cable and use a micro usb cigarette charger.

Re: Question regarding audio out
Or you could try a Mini usb to Micro USb adapter with your current setup and plug it in the phone and see if audio comes out.
