The mobile hot spot app in Froyo will probably just be an installable app, and Sprint will probably just tell them to not include it in the version of Froyo for their network.

I guess it will also depend on how many people adopt the $30/mo hot spot usage. If very few adopt that charge, Sprint may drop the charge, altogether.

Should be interesting when we start seeing Froyo roms available for the Evo.

If you're talking about official roms, its going to be a minute for froyo because of the damn HTC sense (which is completely useless to me, because if sense has the ability to be disabled like with the desire, I'm definitely disabling it) because of feoyo and root access I can't buy this phone on release day. Hopefully the rumors are correct and HTC is working on the evo next in line for froyo update.

Re: unlock tethering?

Just quick question to people who are so against Sense.
I've played around with it briefly on my TP2 Android, and in Verizon's store (after someone wrecked the configuration, moving all Widgets hell knows where), and it seems like it makes the phone much more usable.

All information is readily accessible, less time is spent with email/text previews.

No flaming please, just curious.

Re: unlock tethering?

The advantages of sense are extra Widgets and the leap feature, both of which are completely useless. The htc Widgets are OK, but I find the regular Widgets are better so sense is just taking up extra resources and prolonging 2.2. Also I personally think the android 2.1 ui is prettier. Example, the menu when you pull up apps on sense is a standard up and down menu, with regular 2.1 the app menu is 3d and more vibrant. There are many other times throughout the OS this happens. Sense is nice but just a waste of memory IMO.

Makes sense (lol).

I do have a followup question. I am too used to Windows Mobile dialer, where you can search for partial number, "spell out" a phone, all using phone keypad. I use this quite a lot. Looks like it's not a part of Android.

Did you ever use this feature on WinMo and miss it or never even heard of that, or is there an alternative? I know it's included in Sense, but not in Android by default.

Re: unlock tethering?

Perfect example, if all you really wanted was the smart dialer, there Are numerous smart dialers in the marketplace, so installing sense just for the dialer is taking up mucho space.

Re: unlock tethering?

Yes that's exactly what froyo is, the next update for android. And because of HTC sense the evo will not be getting an official uppdate for awhile.
