Notification and Sound work Around ? " Fixed "
 

Does anyone know a work around to stop the shaded out settings when you uncheck the box for "show notification in status bar when messages are received" It wont let me play just sound ? Thanks for looking...

Can't say exactly what you've done but mine is not grayed out like yours.could it be you have it in vibrate only mode so notification options are not available?
Edit: Ok now that I have reread your post I see I am stating the obvious. One of the things I do miss about Windows Mobile is the ability to really customize settings for each instance. Android is far less adaptable I have found. Sorry I'm no help.

I'm sure there is a way to manually remove the status bar notification. mms.apk may have to be modded

Thanks, still looking hard for this one. I don't like status bar info with sms " showing my messages" but want the notification sound to still be there.

Fixed ! I downloaded "Ringo Pro'& it gives you the ability to set these function separately. Sweet !

Settings-privacy-message preview... Uncheck... It hides the message preview from the lock screen and status bar.... Mine shows a notification, has sound, with no preview
