+1 on that.

I have had every version of the Jawbone BT headset from Aliph. Each one was better then the previous model, but the Icon trumps them all. With the ability to download and install custom "apps" from the Jawbone website, makes it the most versatile BT headset I have used (and I have tried many). I love having the audio from music, movies, games, etc. come through my Icon using the A2DP app.

I have owned all 3 versions of the aliph jawbone so far and I have loved them all. I am going to get the new icon as well, I just got to find a good deal since my girl wants one as well.

I got mine on Ebay. The Icon Hero. Was 55.00 USD shipped! came with everything but a box and works flawlessly!

Yeah, I been checking the prices on ebay for the last 2 weeks and they seem to have come down a bit since then. Personally I am gonna get the ace for myself and the rogue for my girl.

I purchased the Jawbone JB2 last week from Costco for my EVO. Sounded great on my end, but every caller complained about the echo. Sadly, it went back...

I sadly lost my first ICON but loved it so much I had to back and purchase another one the thing is awesome. If I could just get Voice Dialing to work. I don't even understand the voice dial you can supposedly download on to the actual bluetooth. Man what if voice dial and that cool voice to text feature worked

Re: jawbone icon aliph

Well, with all the hype, I had to go and take the 30 day challenge... I'm on day 2 and have already decided to keep it... :D

This headset has by far the best sound quality and design I have seen to date. Calls are crystal clear even in windy conditions... I was walking around outside on a call yesterday, it was a bit windy, and the caller on the other end never once asked me if I was outside or complained about wind noise...

I find Jawbone to be very innovative with their apps and am looking forward to see what else they come out with in the future. I installed the A2DP and music is playing perfectly... It was playing really low at first until I read their support forum to find you can use the call button (Press and hold) to increase it... Now it's near perfect!

I do wish the would come out with a stereo add-on that could possibly connect to the MicroUSB port... Similar to the Plantronics Voyager 855...

Otherwise, this is by far one of the best BT Headsets I have used...

Re: jawbone icon aliph

Do you guys use the ear loop with it, or the ear pieces with the loop on them?

I'm have a hard time dialing in the fit on the icon, the ear pieces with the loops still bother my ear at times, and the ear loop is ok but not the greatest (Plus I hate having them on because they bend or detach when thrown into pockets) the prime felt more natural because it was longer and it me better.

D\/8 06-25-2010 02:55 PM

Re: jawbone icon aliph

I don't like the loop over the ear so I'm using the medium bud with the loop on it... It tends to hurt after wearing for a long period but it's the one that provides the best fit for me out of all the options provided.

I have seen some 3 party custom fit gels for the Jawbone Icon but they tend to run around $80... A bit much... Hoping Jawbone releases so additional options to purchase...

Found a couple cheaper things I think I'm going to give one of them a try.

Acoustibuds (list prime on the website a forums said icon worked as well)
http://www.amazon.com/ACOUSTIBUDS-SI...ref=pd_sim_e_9

or

Jabra Ear gels

Should have the Acoustibuds by July 15th or so, the Jabra ones should be here earlier.

How will does it work while driving in a Jeep with no roof, windows, or doors? I am still looking for a headset that makes this possible...

cerathalis 06-28-2010 07:57 PM

Re: jawbone icon aliph

Well I got them and here is the summary so far.

Keep in mind I have settled for given a fair long term test to either solution.

Jabra ear gels:
They fit over a standard donut shaped ear piece on the jawbone. I doubt the kit was really made for the icon the snap ear loop doesn't fit. But the gels do.

I was able to get a so so fit with the largest one, but it was just not comfortable enough and I was not sure of the connection of the sensor and my cheek with it on.

I probably will not use these, so at least they where cheap.

Acoustibuds:
I was able to get a couple solid fits, there is 1 problem. Its too loud.

Heinous: This may be your best chance for hearing while driving that jeep...

Turning the volume in call on the bluetooth down the min volume the voicemail box was ok just a touch louder than I want. But the post hangup sound notification... That is the deal breaker at the moment.

I can't find a spot to turn that volume down all the way, if I could I would be more tempted to give this a long run try.

There was some discomfort from them, but that hangup sound volume was too much.

--
Well I hope this helps I may give the Acoustibuds a run for a bit.

How are you turning down the volume, on the phone or on the Icon or a combo of both...?

I really want the bombshell (gold) one, but it seems to be the most costly one out of them all. ;(

I don't talk thatt much on the phone, but it'd still be really nice as the evo is 6 oz and when it's to loud for speaker phone...

ecost.com has some of the best deals on two of the icons, and other jawbones as well.

Re: jawbone icon aliph

Well, I found these on Amazon and the majority of the reviews are 5 Stars... The description says they are compatible with the Icon and after reading through the reviews, a few people mentioned they had Jawbones and loved the Earbuds.

Here's a link to the decription:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...&sr=1-1&seller=

Note: it says 24.99 but they seem to be available for 8.99 + 1.99 shipping... 10.98 total. Use the below link and scroll down to the bottom and you see the listing for 8.99 + 1.99 shipping.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...&condition=new

I'll let you guys know how it works out... I like the design and think it will be a good fit for me... We'll see...

Re: jawbone icon aliph

First did the volume on the bluetooth during the call to voice mail. That reduced the volume enough to stand the increase of the voice mail system etc. But that blurp notification sound when hanging up doesn't seem to follow the volume rules.

I tried also reducing all the volumes , system media etc trying to get that notification down had the system completely to silent and it still happens.

Either way the seal that the acoustibuds create defiantly increases volume and was secure enough for moving around some.

Well, I thought I'd share an idea I had for a holder for the Icon Headset... I used a few things lying around the house and it's working out really well so far...

This is just to give you some ideas as you may not have access to the same things I used but atleast you get the concept...

An Icon owner will remember when the purchased their Icon, it was deplayed within the case on a clear acrylic stand looking thing.

Pictured here:
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget....2010-01-17.jpg

I liked the clippy thing it was attached to since it has rubber gromets located on the insides to protect the icon from direct contact with the plastic. My idea was to remove the clippy area where the Icon attaches and use that as a storage place for my Icon. Here's some pics for you...

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...y-IMAG0012.jpghttp://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...y-IMAG0014.jpg

Be creative and see what you can find lying around the house... This took me all of 10 minutes and has worked great for me so far...

Hope someone finds this useful... :D

Nice Idea! Will try tomo.

Are you guys upgrading your icons using mytalk? I got A2DP installed on it and the bombshell's voice.

Loaned my icon to my girl cause she was talking and driving. When I turned it on and the bombshell said "Im turned on and ready to go" she stopped her convo, looked at me and said "Oh really, this is how you like your women to sound huh" looked away whistling.

Nice job, that looks like it would do the trick for a holder.

I didn't try the cone shaped one from amazon because I think it will tunnel the sound to help that part I'm just not sure it would help it hold in place any better while moving around etc.

Either way I guess I'm going to stick with the ear loop for now. Don't want to pick the ear piece up or have it fall out and some one step on it...

Re: jawbone icon aliph

Well my icon ace and my icon rogue finally came in a few days ago and I must say that the call quality is astonishing. Short of armageddon happening outside you really can't hear any back ground noise. With every earpiece my girl has had, back ground noise was always an issue for me. I always had to tell her to roll the windows up or turn the radio down or call me after you leave the mall. Now when she leaves the house and goes to the mall or any public place and I can't hear anything in the back ground at all and most importantly it works amazingly well in windy conditions.

Oh and to add I have owned all previous models of the jawbone and they have all worked very well. I used the jabra eargels on the jawbone 2 and the jawbone prime and it worked great and was very comfortable to wear all day if necessary. The only complaint I have about all the jawbones is that battery life isn't that great.

I am just afraid of counterfeit/imitations... Especially from eBay vendors.

EDIT: Missed both the 1saleaday and walmart sales on these for $49.99, but keeping my eyes open.

I tried the jawbone out and it was a bit pitchy for me. when turned up loud it hurts my ear, when lower it just isn't loud enough in noisy situations. I was supprised at how much clearer the a2dp media play was in comparison to the phone calls. I also compared it to my voyager pro with 3 different people and they all thought the voyager pro sounded better on their end. defective unit maybe? Oh well it was returned.

i know this maybe a little bit off topic because this thread is about the icon. sorry in advance, but how does the prime compare with the icon? i would just like to know because i bought the prime yesterday and if its not good, then i would like to get the icon maybe? i need some opinions!

NOTE: Some people claim they get the full retail Verizon packaging, others get no accessories in bubble wrap. Also claims of units being used, previously paired and or DOA. YMMV

Walmart has the Icon Thinker back in stock, except they want $59, up from $49 previously.
