What's with all the people buying phone covers.
Ok I'm a bit confused about the whole phone cover thing. I get the screen film because you don't want to scratch your screen. I don't use one, but I understand the concept. I just don't get why people want to put an ugly rubber cover that makes the phone thicker. I guess I'm not a phone klutz and don't drop my phone constantly.

The hard cases are also good options to keep what's seeming to be the infamous screen-lifting issue from becoming an issue.

Protection...why do you wear a condom? Same principle....in theory....Protection...Protection...Protection!! Without a case the phone has the possibility of getting dinged, dented..scratched..
I feel safer known that if I drop my phone, the $15-20 case I bought saves me from having to take a trip to the Sprint store and explaining how the casing on the phone got cracked, and possibly having to do the insurance claim...and the fact that $15-20 case is cheaper to replace..that make any sense to you? |
Re: What's with all the people buying phone covers.
i have rheumatoid arthritis in both my hands so i often drop things. a screen cover is a must for me to protect the phone as i have dropped other phones in the past.

I just want my phone to have....um...a hard-on...
You know...a hard case that's on the phone... It's a joke. Sorry. I'll leave now.... |

Re: What's with all the people buying phone covers.
When I had my Diamond I never bought a phone cover but my friends with blackberries always had what I thought was a cool silicone case. So I bought my hero and bought one. I liked it for about 2 months and then I couldnt take it anymore. It was too grippy to get in and out of my pocket and it really did make the phone feel thicker. Its all just personal preference. Take the risk and leave it naked or deal with the discomfort and wrap it. Damn, that does sound like a condom. Lol.

Re: What's with all the people buying phone covers.
My dealer included the body glove hard case, so i thought I would try it out... first cover I have ever had.. Honestly on this phone i don't even notice its there (until I go an try to replace the battery... Dohh..)
Now my question being a n00b to this site and still trying to figure it out, my question is: why ask this question? If you like cases or screen protectors you do, if you don't you don't what would starting this thread gain anyone? is it going to change anyones mind about using a case? Just asking.... |
Re: What's with all the people buying phone covers.
I have the black and grey bodyglove case that was released by Sprint, and it is simply fantastic. Adds almost nothing to the dimensions yet keeps the camera from touching the table when I set it down. Even has a layer of felt on the inside to further protect the phone from even the case itself. I'm in love with this thing.

Wirelessly posted (Sprint HTC Evo : Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.1-update1; en-us; Sprint APA9292KT Build/ERE27) AppleWebKit/530.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/530.17)
that silicone or rubber case is ugly as hell ..... the 1 i tried at sprint didnt mold well to the sides of the phone so went with a hard one as well n i dropped my phone on a sidewalk already n it saved me. i initially only got it to protect it in case i return within 30 days to keep it looking brandy new |
Re: What's with all the people buying phone covers.
I got the one with the holster from Best Buy first time I put a case on a phone but it works and I like it. And I never did notice the light leak or the slight rise in the glass because of it. And it really looks like part of the phone in my opinion.

Re: What's with all the people buying phone covers.
I personally don't use them, but I use the Ghost Armor full body. My gf has the full body GA on her Hero AND a Body Glove with a clip. But between her 8 yr old son and her, the thing gets dropped a lot. lol

I got the one from Best Buy. I am not experiencing some of the problems with screen and light leakage.

Things happen, considering this is a very large, thin and expensive phone, people want to take every precaution. Personally I keep mine in a sleeve, but will be getting an Otterbox Commuter as soon as they become available (check the HD2 version for a idea of the look). -CC EDIT: as for the screen protector, this one is glass and very scratch proof in comparison to the plastic ones on previous phones. |

Re: What's with all the people buying phone covers.
I do it so when i resell on ebay in a year, it'll be like new. That being said, I drop my phones less these days so ive been going bare recently. It does take the sexy and great inhand feel out of phones... still, new thread was totally unnecessary. nd theres an accessories forum btw...

Re: What's with all the people buying phone covers.
I throw a case on mine to preserve resale value. Just sold my used TP2 on ebay for 275. was in mint condition.
I am using the one from Best Buy right now. The Seidio Platinum series with the belt holster. By-far the best case/holster I have owned! |

Re: What's with all the people buying phone covers.
I'll go one further and say that i'm not only using a silicone cover, i also have invisible shield under it.
It was mostly because i had no idea if the innocase II would also work with IS on it (although i have been reading about how the innocase II fits a little loose so i might give it a try) And i wanted to have something to recess the camera lens so it doesn't get messed up on a table but can come off easy so i can put it into a proclip mount (when they finally make one). I haven't dropped a phone since the Razr days, but i put some kind of protection on all the devices i own. Like some people have said in this thread, all it takes is once. |
Re: What's with all the people buying phone covers.
I have the Rocket fish rubber case for the weekends. I like the grip it provides and I can lay it down and not have to worry about scratches. It's much thinner then the Sprint version and works good not adding any bulk. I use the HTC leather belt case for the work week since I have to dress up and it won't be in my pocket.
I'm looking at those new Amzer cases and may pick one up also. This thing makes me spend money!!!!! |
